I saw a playing partner get one, as the green was slightly raised from the tee though we didnt see it go in the hole so it didnt really feel the same.

The nearest I got was when I was playing the second at Broome Manor, which was at the time a par four of around 350 yards. I was on the green when somebody holed out their tee shot on the third. So quite close  :)

Coate Water pitch'n' putt was my moment of glory - mind you there were 6 of us, 5 of which have never recovered.

Nice one Foggy, I've been playing for 40 years and have never had a hole in one.
I hit the pole once at Henley and the ball ended about one inch away, it was probably further away but I've told the story so many times it gets closer each time.

It's all in the sweep forward motion of the right analogue stick.

Well done Foggy - the only one I've ever got was years ago on the 8th at Burford.  Fortunately the bar was totally empty.  I've never come close since.

Good man Foggy. Where abouts and what hole, might have played it?

I've got 3 to my name somehow but I've played a lot of golf.

2nd at Bowood- hit an 8 iron a bit thin and it's rattled up the hill clattered the flag and gone in, 4th on the 9 hole Broome Manor course- downwind, piped a wedge all down it, pitches a foot behind the cup and nibbles back in, and a 5 iron on the 3rd at North Wilts, pitched front edge and rolled 40 foot to the back pin and in.

I'm pretty fucking good.

Morning Dave, It was the par 3 8th Hole at Salisbury and South Wilts CG, clipped it in off the front bank with an 8 iron.

I played yesterday at Huntercombe, some of the hardest pin positions I've ever experienced. Lovely course though and very tough, haven't played much this year but they still had me playing off 12, only had three pars, no birdies and never bothered the pin on the par threes.
DRS I four putted three times, and this is no lie. On the third I was on the green in regulation about 10 foot from the pin, second putt was 10 yards past the pin, third put was short by a foot, frustrating game innit.

Damn right dell. With a nice bounce off the ground the other day i made the green on a par 5 for 2.

Like you, i 4 putted, pissed off werent the word!

hitting the straight drives, close approaches and the long putts is what keeps us coming back for more.even when it all goes tits up(regularly for me)
knowing you can do it at times is why golf is so addictive.
well that's how it is for me anyway

Straight drives are a thing of the past for me Arriba, I seem to play more and more recovery shots than I ever use to from my eratic driving when I get out the big bertha, it has got so bad this year that I have gone from using a driver to hitting a two iron off the tee on par fours and fives to keep my ball in play, stupidly on occasions the temptation to use her still takes grip, even though I know I'm going to pay on most occasions but thats golf.

Shot of the day for me yesterday after using BB on a 276 yard par four, hit the ball in the trees about 10 yards short of the green on the left, found my ball covered in leaves and a very restrictive area to swing my club, I had to crouch down quite low or stick my head in a holly tree, bringing the club back no more than a foot, chopped under the ball, up she went, over the bunker and onto the green, travelled about 20 foot across the green and ended up a three foot past the pin (bloody two-putted though, gutted).

My good and bad drives I will never remember in weeks to come, but that shot I will.

Get on the putting green gents!

I play a half decent standard but the low handicap and scoring well comes from putting, putting and more putting - when I used to have lessons regularly I spent at least 2 hours putting to every hour on the range.

played a course in Surrey yesterday with a mate and his Dad - I only started playing about September last year.

Given up with the driver for now - 5 wood off the tee for me !

Played a par 5 - almost 500 yards long.  Hit a 5 wood off the tee, another straight 5 wood within 20 yards of the green - a 7 iron chip and run within 6 inches of the hole, then in for 4 - first time ever a "proper" birdie on a par 5 !

Followed it with a 5 wood off the tee on a par 3 200 yard hole - caught a lucky bounce on the left side of the green and bounced and rolled within about 9 inches of the hole

Those are the 2 holes i will remember - not the other 16 which were largely forgettable !!!!

Spot on and when you get bored of practising putting a little session with a wedge chipping onto the green does wonders for the score.  I rarely hit the greens in regulation but have loads of greenside chips.  Getting it close really takes the heat off those bloody 5 footers

agree about putting.half your game is played on the greens.i'm ok at it and generally 2 putt most greens, with the odd 1 putt and 3's too.
my lad is great off the tee and fairway and hits it straight most of the time.his putting is dog shit though and ruins his game.

numerous times, and he knows it anyway.it leads to strops and toys being thrown out.he blows birdies and pars all the time due to his putting.
better than me off the tee and approach shots, but he's only beat me once because he putts like stevie wonder

I went around the Sawgrass course in the States in 19 once. 17 hole in one's. Devastatingly i hit a 2 on the 18th hole, it was a par 7 mind.

My playing partner hit his ball into a lake and as i was fishing it out i caught a 79lb carp.

Nice one Foggy,i tend to aim for the bunkers on par three,s on account of it usually being the furthest from the water!

Which reminds me i have four days watching the PGA at Wentworth this week starting on Thursday :)

Alvaro Quiros will go close at decent odds if you fancy a punt,Ross Fisher is good E/W.

had a nice 9 holes today with my lad at broome. had a sporting matchplay game and finished all square.
i was one up into the last hole and thought i had it in the bag when i hit a gentle 5 wood to just short of the brook. my lad had hit his drive into the rough on the right about 50 yards back from me.he then hit a 7 iron to within 3 feet of the cup after getting a kind roll from the mound next to the bunker.i grounded my club and came up short of the green with my second shot.then i chipped past the hole and putted for a par.he got his birdie and that was that.
i was 2 down at one point so happy with a draw.
