Title: Swindon v Hartlepool matchday thread Post by: Andy King on Saturday, April 2, 2011, 00:16:15 Today marks my return to the County Ground, albeit from the directors box. Hopefully 3 points and a cheeky cigar at half time.
Title: Re: Swindon v Hartlepool matchday thread Post by: Stef Troll on Saturday, April 2, 2011, 01:31:29 We will take the lead either at half time or by the 70 minute mark. Hartlepool will then equalise late on and the game will end up 1-1.
People will then contact Radio Wilts (like they did against Rochdale and Dag + Red) saying that we should have won the game (even though in both games the draw was the fair result). People will then complain about Hart and his nagative tactics, which will then lead to people questioning Fitton. Hopefully we will win, but cant see it making a difference as we are still shit and will get relegated. Title: Re: Swindon v Hartlepool matchday thread Post by: Ardiles on Saturday, April 2, 2011, 06:01:10 Realistically, we need 5 points from this game if we're going to stay up.

Title: Re: Swindon v Hartlepool matchday thread Post by: Batch on Saturday, April 2, 2011, 06:41:40 2-1 and a win at Brentford to give us false hope.
STFC always offers false hope before snatching it away at the last minute. Its the law. Title: Re: Swindon v Hartlepool matchday thread Post by: stfcinbmth on Saturday, April 2, 2011, 07:05:26 1-0 cos a win is long overdue

Title: Re: Swindon v Hartlepool matchday thread Post by: OOH! SHAUN TAYLOR on Saturday, April 2, 2011, 07:23:30 Agreed. Can't see anything other than 3 points.
3-0 Andrew, Grella, Ritchie. Title: Re: Swindon v Hartlepool matchday thread Post by: Spencer_White on Saturday, April 2, 2011, 07:28:48 Hartlepool win. I think up until now the players have still been trying hard, but Exeter may have been a turning point. Weve been competing and having close games up until now, this could be the start of things really falling apart.
Title: Re: Swindon v Hartlepool matchday thread Post by: Batch on Saturday, April 2, 2011, 07:33:28 Agreed Spence. Hart will have to earn is money to keep them motivated and up for a fight.
I think Exeter could be the tipping point from the fans too. It could get ugly today if things go wrong. There is only so much shit people will put up with and to be honest the players have got off reasonably lightly this season. That said maybe the long realisation that we are going down has just sucked the 'fight' out us all. Title: Re: Swindon v Hartlepool matchday thread Post by: woolster on Saturday, April 2, 2011, 07:34:30 Hartlepool win. Title: Re: Swindon v Hartlepool matchday thread Post by: mrverve on Saturday, April 2, 2011, 08:24:26 Anything other than a win and the board have to stop worrying about this season and get a new manager in ready for next season. Give him the rest of this season to try out the youngsters, different players etc. in preperation for the inevitable mass clear out that's to come after Prenton Park.
A dreadful season which is compounded by the optimism that all of us shared in July. Truly abismal from start to finish. Title: Re: Swindon v Hartlepool matchday thread Post by: chalkies_shorts on Saturday, April 2, 2011, 08:27:49 Another defeat 2 nil. Hartleppol have got a fair record at our ground recently.
Because I'm an adult I intend to remain seated when the teams come out and IF we score a goal I will remain seated rather than do my demented chimp routine. It will be a protest of Ghandi proportions. Title: Re: Swindon v Hartlepool matchday thread Post by: Crispy on Saturday, April 2, 2011, 08:29:45 First time in a long time i've felt positive.

Title: Re: Swindon v Hartlepool matchday thread Post by: ronnie21 on Saturday, April 2, 2011, 09:16:18 Got 0-1 all over it! Hartlepool have problems scoring, our front "three" couldn't hit a bar door from five yards (mind you I'd shit myself if all three could get in the box at the same time) so I guess Monkhouse will score a late winner for the Monkey Hangars.
Title: Re: Swindon v Hartlepool matchday thread Post by: Samdy Gray on Saturday, April 2, 2011, 09:22:20 1-1. We'll score first, they'll score late on. Probably Monkhouse.

I'm also taking this as a sign. 4 0 to the monkeys. This will not upset me because I'm to numb to feel pain. What will upset me is seeing the retained list for div 4. The only ones I would keep are Ritchie, Benyon and Smith and why should we make them pay for this shit season. Title: Re: Swindon v Hartlepool matchday thread Post by: pauld on Saturday, April 2, 2011, 11:23:26 Wadsworth was in the press this week denying that now they've reached 50 points so they're safe but can't reach the play-offs, that they've given up bothering. Which usually means they have. So with a half-hearted Hartlepool side playing against a gutless Town side, this could be a real classic.

Title: Re: Swindon v Hartlepool matchday thread Post by: No Longer Posh Red on Saturday, April 2, 2011, 14:58:01 Well a pretty average 45 mins of football.
We've had 2 or 3 decent long range efforts & a couple of half chances. Hartlepool didn't look at all threatening so Smithy decided to make it interesting & threw the ball straight to one of their players after making a decent catch from a corner and we find ourselves 1-0 down to a team that hardly seem like they can be arsed. As I sit in the DRS it's hard to say how many are in here, but the rest of the ground is pretty empty so I'd say the actual crowd is probably about 6k Title: Re: Swindon v Hartlepool matchday thread Post by: Benzel on Saturday, April 2, 2011, 14:59:36 Sigh.

"You're not fit to wear the shirt" from some in the TE after Smith threw them thier goal. Immediately met by even more people booing towards the TE for suggesting it and chants of "Swindon" from the DRS. I can see both halves of the argument. Yes I guess we should encourage the team whilst not mathematically relegated, yet they are fucking toss and if they'd have been playing 10 years ago the crowd would be so fucking at them they'd be left in no doubt they aren't fit to wear shirt. We've turned into a bunch of Vegan hippies. ---------------------------------- As for the game itself - arrived to see Lucas stretchered off. Thought we were pretty pap up to the sending off. Benyon didn't impress and seems to have no left foot. After the sending off we had a bit of a go, though I was screaming at Hart to get another attacker on sooner. We looked like we have done most of the season. Huffed and puffed but unlikely to blow over a house of cards. Hard to get angry when they are putting in the effort. They are just too shit. ------ I swear I'll hunt Fitton down and Chinese burn him if he appoints Trollope or Hart next season. ------ Rumours from the stands (no doubt from a bloke down the pub or off the radio): AOB told to find new club - Hart not going to use wingers as such and he's within a game or two of his automatic contract extension. Dossevi - Paid off and left the building. Pericard not really injured. Just doesn't want to play for us again and spends most of his time in the gym on his phone or laptop. I think silly season rumours are fair game now. The season is over and I'd imagine most of the squad will be moved on come summer. I nearly cracked with Monkhouse but didn't.The equally adult gentleman next to him did not. As for the game - a complete pile of dogshit. Hartlepool would never have scored in a million years, so what do we do, give them one. In a season of giving away comedy goals this was pure Keystone Cops. They then go down to 10 men early in the 2nd and we're still shite. Sheehan's crossing was gash. Frampton was fucking useless - I hope to God he doesn't stay. Andrew and Benyon had poor games. Ritchie was by a country mile MOM. As soon as we're down I hope they play the youngsters and loanees. As for Trollope as manager, how completely underwhelming. Its not going to put bums on seats unless we win a few early doors. Oh well, we'll equal the record next Saturday and then beat it in the next home game - how fitting. In the dressing room, each player had a list of "Stop doing", "Keep doing" and "Start Doing" on their cubicles. The only one I had a chance to read properly was Scott Cuthbert's and it was all about improving his lack of confidence, not being so hard on himself etc. They had a self appraisal list and he ranked himself 3 out of 10 for confidence. This might well explain why a few dodgy games have affected him more than they ought to given his ability.
The top "Start Doing" on Pericard's was "Act more like a senior pro". Hmmmm...... Title: Re: Swindon v Hartlepool matchday thread Post by: ronnie21 on Saturday, April 2, 2011, 20:59:28 Remember its all silly rumour. Just amusing to repost them now the season is done.. The comedy goal and the 10 or so loose balls that never fell to us sums up our season. Ritchie was ace as was JFL. Apart from that not much positive to report. Nice goal we scored.....nice to see a fucking strike after attending hudds, plymouth and exeter. Its all over now......it has been for me for ages but even the die hard 'we can still do it' brigade have to face the cold harsh reality of the shit sandwich we now have to eat. A great big clear out needs to start now...right now...drop the useless cunts and play Bodin, Thompson the Samsung kid....give em a run out. Glad to see Cuthbert get dropped today.....pity he didn't run up to the townend at fulltime and have another rant. Manager: please not Hart....pleased that we have been harder to beat but I wanted us to go shit or bust.....We haven't...played deep and never ever look like scoring. We need somebody experienced in lower league battles and fucking quick Mr Fitton, not in fucking October or November....In June so the bloke can ship these wankers out and get somebody who can save, pass, shoot, head and tackle. Even with a team of complete and utter shite where competition to stand out as shit is really tough, Rose still stands out as fucking shit. How the fuck he ever made it as a professional footballer is beyond me. Ferry seems to have a touch of the Sheehan's about him, sign a contract and then put on a bit of timber and be hopelessly out of condition. this also says a lot about our management and fitness consultant. I get the impression he just dicks about and finds a comfort zone all too easily. To be fair to the fitness consultant, you can take a horse to water but you can't make him drink. May be that the fitness bloke is telling him all the right things, but Ferry ain't doing it. The fitness bloke can't make him, and ultimately nor can the manager. All he can do is drop him if he isn't fit. Maybe that's why he isn't playing, cos he can't be arsed to put the work in required to get himself up to a standard. I'm speculating, obviouslyTitle: Re: Swindon v Hartlepool matchday thread Post by: chalkies_shorts on Saturday, April 2, 2011, 22:49:04 Slightly off on a tangent but I thought the fans were superb today. Title: Re: Swindon v Hartlepool matchday thread Post by: THE FLASH on Saturday, April 2, 2011, 22:50:41 I was in the sponsor's lounge today and went on the tour. This might well explain why a few dodgy games have affected him more than they ought to given his ability.i The top "Start Doing" on Pericard's was "Act more like a senior pro". Hmmmm...... Did it say: Stop :being a cunt to the fans who pay your wages! Start: calling your agent! Keep: your shirts....not even daucher wants em. Title: Re: Swindon v Hartlepool matchday thread Post by: joteddyred on Sunday, April 3, 2011, 01:13:52 Probably not an ideal time to post, having been on the drink and feeling emotional, but hey ho.
When you can't beat a team at home down to 10 men for the best part of 40 minutes, there's not a lot else to say really. We are so crap it's pathetic. Paul Hart is an absolute waste of space, we might as well have been managerless today. At times the supporters seemed to be telling him what to do and 10 minutes later he'd do it, like an afterthought. Fucking grade a clueless tosspot who can do one now as far away from here as possible as far as I'm concerned. Me and my 7 year old would have done a better job in the dugout today. 1-0 down at home to 10 men, let's go 3 up front? Not fucking difficult is it? Why am I probably going to renew my season ticket tomorrow. Along with nearly 3,000 others, I'm clearly a complete and utter fool (apologies to those I'm tarnishing with the same brush as myself). We all know we're down, so Fitton and Co need to be extremely grateful that there's so many loyal supporters out there and need to take a long hard think about their next move. Appoint Hart and I'll be the first one (along with many others no doubt) banging on their door demanding a refund. IMO we need a fresh young manager who's played the game at the highest level who'll put the energy and excitement back into the club (and I don't mean Trollope). We're sick of clueless past it managers who don't know how to mix it up. The players commanding good wages and doing fuck all every week need to be shown the door and replaced with players who give a shit. I'd keep Caddis, Ritchie, LJF, Cuthbert, possibly Douglas and now I'm struggling, which says it all really. I think we as supporters have been remarkably tolerant of the shite and disappointment we've had to put up this season, but if next season is anywhere near a repeat of this one, it will be a different story. Oh and get rid of the female physio as well, it's all gone wrong since she's been here (and I'm not being sexist, I'm female!) "do i throw it there? no. at the other fullback...no no, that'd be mental there's a man marking him". the one time he didn't have 5 glances around he's made a hash of things.
for large periods we played 4-1-everyone else and lumped it forwards. then they went down to 10 men and we passed it about, got a good cross in and a wonderful header by ritchie. so then we resorted to lumping it again. i have no idea what JP or prutton were doing, they were absolutely fucking awful. and the strikers looked very much on the periphery of things, unless it was a high ball for Andrews to win and head to no one. They both looked like they'd been forced to play up front without actually having played there before. hmph Title: Re: Swindon v Hartlepool matchday thread Post by: ronnie21 on Sunday, April 3, 2011, 09:36:58 Only 14 pages on this thread and we have not gone into meltdown!!! Seems we have accepted our fate!! Surprisingly I agree with just about everything written on here post-match, the good points and the bad points. Mr NC is pure wank, :gay: he should have left Benyon on (providing he is fit) and shoved Prutton off. When he eventually brought on that huge unit from Palace he seemed to play him on the left hand side, almost as a winger!! I would have loved to have seen him just behind Grella and Andrew ploughing forward, he looks like he has a great engine. One of the problems we have is the tippy-tapppy way out of defence, it gives the opposition so much time to get behind the ball when we eventually lump it forward. Fitton must now accept our fate, thank Hart for coming in, ask Bodin to look after things until the end of the season and we find a new manager - unless we could persuade Martin O'Neill to come in now! :hmmm:

Title: Re: Swindon v Hartlepool matchday thread Post by: Nemo on Sunday, April 3, 2011, 10:07:51 I did think that yesterday was an interest yardstick of how we might cope in League Two: Hartlepool seem to me the kind of side we'll come up against a lot, organised, tall, strong but lacking that little bit of attacking flair and quality throughout.
On the other hand, I doubt most of the starting 11 will be at the club this season so maybe it's not terribly relevant at all. He's been in and out of the side all season which can't help the defence much. Not that anything will help them much. True, one of the many reasons why we haven't been as good this season. One other thing I noticed that was very evident yesterday was just how deep JD is playing. He almost seems to play as an extra centre half at times, not only that but he drops very deep to pick up the ball from the back four. Wonder if he is the wise head we need to play in that position. He might not have the pace, but then neither did Greer and neither has Frampton Title: Re: Swindon v Hartlepool matchday thread Post by: A Gent Orange on Sunday, April 3, 2011, 14:36:57 Well, Wilson did set up a side properly to play 10 men by switching sides and getting the fullbacks to overlap. Or at least one would play in midfield and the rest of the back four would spread out. Yesterday Douglas had to force Sheehan to cross the halfway line by putting balls where he should have been.
As for Douglas it is clear that he has been told to do that - and fine - if it is meant to be a diamond but as soon as Douglas gets it Prutton and McGoven just fucked off leaving him 30 yards from anyone and very easily closed down. On a side note yesterday him and Harte on about 4 occasions fucking ripped into Phil Smith for not relesing the ball quick enough and about 1 min before the error Hart seriously went fucking mental at him for not relesing caddis. 1 min later look what happened.
