Title: Elliot Benyon
Post by: tufc13 on Sunday, March 27, 2011, 17:08:15
Torquay fan here. I have been keeping an eye on how you get on week in week out. I was just wondering how Benyon is doing with you and your opinions on the lad seeing as he has been with you for nearly two months now?

Not seen Benyon play much.

Scored in his first outing. Got injured. Then we sacked Danny Wilson. Now we have Paul Hart who only plays with one recognised striker - which isn't Benyon.

Must be very frustrating for him.

His injury has been a major nail in our coffin.

Danny Wilson and our board stupidly decided that his signing would be enough to keep us up, when in fact we probably needed 3 new strikers in january.

Least he's off the mark in terms of goals.

Benyon's last minute goal v Dale, preserved our unbeaten record against them, along with 2 wins in Sky games, the only highlights of a train wreck of a season.

You're right I missed that....did we win Program of the Year for Div 3?

Personally feel he could do well in lge 2 next year.....seemed to struggle with the physical part of the game in this division.
Not fair to judge him.............though it is a mystery to me why he isn't playing given the plight we are in.

And yes Reg we did.

So this season hasn't been a complete waste of everyone's time then. The cricket season starts next weekend, can't come soon enough for me.

I am bored rigid with footy......will be glad when the break comes.

Unfair to judge him on what we have seen so far, looks very much like a sniffer, like his movement in the box, scored a dramatic late equaliser on his debut and the only other time I have seen him he was only inches away from giving us a deserved win against the Daggers.  Sadly Mr Negative Cunt (that's Paul Hart) will not play with two up front, just likes one big man - who cannot hit a barn door from five yards - but he works hard and pulls the defence sideways.  If only Mr NC would play a straight 4-4-2 with Benyon playing alongside Andrew I am sure he would be scoring on a regular basis for us.

Mr NC is doing a considerably better job than Mr POF did this season

You can't beat an Open Sandwich.....just ask fB.

When I was a kid, I recall visiting a replica Viking ship just outside Sandwich....it had been sailed to England by some mad Danes, to commemorate something or other. Good stuff though, been interested in the Vikings since.

Nothing exciting - Mr Play Off Final. i'm getting really fucked off with the slagging Hart is getting. He's turned a bunch of cunts into a unit that is at least competitive and doesn't look as thuogh its going to ship fuckloads of goals. We're no longer beaten before we get on the pitch - still beaten at the end of it but things have improved a lot. If he had been here a coupel of weeks before the 3 games v Walsall etc it might have been a different story.

My thoughts exactly - I was saying the same to a fellow supporter yesterday - Danny left about 3 or 4 weeks too late.

I haven't played properly for about 4 years now....no, my interest now is more in following and watching on the box.

I really can't wait for the summer. This season is like an agonising slow, painful death.

Credit where credit is due, Hart has come in and tightened up the defence and got us playing as a unit. For me though, I'd like to see a new manager come in next season. Appointed in May so he has plenty of time to get a decent team together.

So who do you want Ralphy, I'd be disappointed to see either Hart or Trollope in.

Think I'd like to see someone like David Weir come in, may still be able cut it in L2 given that he's still playing in the SPL so could be a player manager.  I know some will say we need an experienced man come in and I'm of the same opinion but there's no one who would come here that I'd be inspired by that has been in the job a few years.

If its not Hart it will be McParland

Why are people claiming certain appointments will be underwhelming? Have you not realised we're going to be a league 2 come May? We're not exactly going to get Jose Mourinho in.

But we will be possibly the biggest club in L2 and be expected to go straight back up, and have money available to spend, so a lot of managers will fancy a promotion on their CV so I think there wil lbe a few decent managers interested if they believe it is only 1 season in L2

Can we not "do a Norwich" and nick the best manager off the rest of the Division. Not sure who that would be, Alan Knill? Buckle? Wilder? (Now that would be funny)
