Title: Should Dougie have handled the ball to keep it 1-1 and concede a penalty?? Post by: dphunt88 on Sunday, February 13, 2011, 16:07:13 Thought we were excellent yesterday. A much more united effort from the whole squad which bodes well for Exeter away on Tuesday night, see you there if you're going. Can we string two performances together on the trot?
Anyway, for anyone that's seen colchester's winner, I think the situation demanded Douglas saving the shot with his hand instead of going for it with his head. I know he would have sent off and faced a ban... and that we'd have had to save the resulting penalty but what if he had.... you never know? Could have been a very valuable point in the long run. Not blaming dougie at all though. these things happen so quickly and he might have genuinely thought he could stop it with his head. What do you think? The suspension would be too costly.

The suspension would be too costly. i think (and don't quote me on this) that it would have been only a one match ban because it wasn't for violent conduct/dangerous tackling etc. you're probably right though. an on song douglas would definitely help our cause Title: Re: Should Dougie have handled the ball to keep it 1-1 and concede a penalty?? And a two-yellow sending off was one match? Title: Re: Should Dougie have handled the ball to keep it 1-1 and concede a penalty?? Even if he handled it, chances our they would have scored the penalty. Title: Re: Should Dougie have handled the ball to keep it 1-1 and concede a penalty?? His punches don't go far or up enough! Title: Re: Should Dougie have handled the ball to keep it 1-1 and concede a penalty?? Post by: land_of_bo on Monday, February 14, 2011, 12:39:10 The standard of keeping is dropping away all the time...FFS, he should have caught it! Bring back the days when a keeper came out and claimed a cross rather than flapping it away!

Post by: jimbob on Monday, February 14, 2011, 22:23:22 haven't checked other threads but smith would have been crucified by now if he would have done what lucas did to cost us a point on saturday but lucas gets the 'he's a great talker so deserves to be in the side' treatment
