Title: Adver News: Jobs for the Bhoys Post by: News Monkey on Friday, July 23, 2010, 07:00:23 Jobs for the Bhoys
TOWN boss Danny Wilson expects to complete the permanent signings of Celtic duo Paul Caddis and Simon Ferry shortly after returning to England. http://www.thisisswindontownfc.co.uk/news/headlines/8288394.Jobs_for_the_Bhoys/?ref=rss Title: Re: Adver News: Jobs for the Bhoys Post by: suttonred on Friday, July 23, 2010, 07:20:19 I'm not convinced by this at all, sounds very vague, with no substance behind it. Hoping to be proved wrong, but it all sounds a bit Theo to me.
Title: Re: Adver News: Jobs for the Bhoys Post by: Samdy Gray on Friday, July 23, 2010, 07:24:06 No substance? They quoted Wilson directly:
Quote We're still in talks with Celtic, have put our bid to them and will have to wait and see what they think, he told the Advertiser. It's very slow at the moment, but I'm confident that they will become Swindon players. Title: Re: Adver News: Jobs for the Bhoys Post by: DV on Friday, July 23, 2010, 07:24:41 what Sutton said.
Although, there are at least direct quotes from Wilson. Along the same lines as what he said about Prutton and Rose and they both signed - eventually! in Pruttons case. I'd like to think we learnt from the Theo Robinson saga, so I'd hope this story wouldnt come out unless there was some serious truth in it. Title: Re: Adver News: Jobs for the Bhoys Post by: Sussex on Friday, July 23, 2010, 07:46:24 Direct quotes from the manager mean jack. Pens to paper please.
Scarves above head are a no no to, remember the pic of our mate yanky Jim? :) Title: Re: Adver News: Jobs for the Bhoys Post by: Rich Pullen on Friday, July 23, 2010, 08:03:12 Media wise, the club have done everything by the book. They can't do anything about what the press decide to write when it's been so quiet.
Obviously, Neil Lennon was within his right to take them to the USA, had we not been in Austria I imagine we'd have signed them by now. Title: Re: Adver News: Jobs for the Bhoys Post by: suttonred on Friday, July 23, 2010, 08:13:56 No substance? They quoted Wilson directly: Other words quoted are "hopefully", "What I've heard" etc, that's what's concerning me. Title: Re: Adver News: Jobs for the Bhoys Post by: leefer on Friday, July 23, 2010, 08:21:13 What a great double signing this would be..really would push the quality up in our squad.
Title: Re: Adver News: Jobs for the Bhoys Post by: juddie on Friday, July 23, 2010, 08:53:03 ha ha, people aren't convinced by this but are certain we're re-signing Tope... the truth is, until anyone puts pen to paper, it's all bollocks.
In saying that, this does sound promising, and both signings would make me cream my pants. Title: Re: Adver News: Jobs for the Bhoys Post by: magicroundabout on Friday, July 23, 2010, 09:01:38 Would signing ferry give us a 5 man midfield?
we couldn't afford to have a player with Ferry's quality sat on the bench each week but would also be unfair to leave out JPM. Austin up front on his own or 3 at the back? We need a CB now though Title: Re: Adver News: Jobs for the Bhoys Post by: Mexicano Rojo on Friday, July 23, 2010, 09:04:46 ferry left of midfield?
a midfield 4 of mcgovern, douglas, prutton and ferry is way too good for this division. skills :) Title: Re: Adver News: Jobs for the Bhoys Post by: magicroundabout on Friday, July 23, 2010, 09:06:48 a solid centre back and we'll have a fucking strong team for next season.
£20 on auto i'm thinking Title: Re: Adver News: Jobs for the Bhoys Post by: jonny72 on Friday, July 23, 2010, 09:10:12 If the signings do all go ahead it will give us options, something we were severely lacking last season and for which we ultimately paid the price. We'll have the players next season for different formations and different tactics, though it does mean we'll likely have some decent players sat on the bench some weeks - this is a good thing though.
Title: Re: Adver News: Jobs for the Bhoys Post by: Stegenfreud on Friday, July 23, 2010, 09:14:28 I fucking love the fact that we have the ability to pay fees for players. These signings would be a significant addition to the squad and i think i agree with Juddie it would make me cream my pants.
Perhaps our formation would be (based on ferry/caddis signing) Lucas Caddis, Cuthbert, Sean, Rose JPM, Captain Dougie, Prutts, Ferry, Ball Austin A type of 4-5-1 when defending but moving into a 4-3-3 on the break? Bench: Smith, Manks, Pericard, Timlin, Lecs, AOB, A N Other Title: Re: Adver News: Jobs for the Bhoys Post by: Reg Smeeton on Friday, July 23, 2010, 09:15:53 Out of interest, why do people think Caddis is good? We know Ferry is a decent lad, but I've never heard of Caddis or seen him play.
Title: Re: Adver News: Jobs for the Bhoys Post by: jonny72 on Friday, July 23, 2010, 09:18:41 Wilson obviously rates Caddis as he's been chasing him for a while now. I think he had a few good games for Celtic as well, which was the reason his loan move in January ended up not going ahead. A good few of the Celtic fans seem to rate him as well.
Besides, as he's border line to making the Celtic 1st team squad he should do a job for us shouldn't he? Title: Re: Adver News: Jobs for the Bhoys Post by: Highland Robin on Friday, July 23, 2010, 09:19:33 Well despite some doubtful comments from Celtic supporters, Caddis has caught quite a lot of attention up here, and has shown himself to be both a competent defender and skilled attacker, with a brilliant cross. H eplayed a number of times in the middle of last season for Celtic's first team, and in one of the friendlies in their current tour of USA was MOM. He is well thought of in the SPL
Title: Re: Adver News: Jobs for the Bhoys Post by: Stegenfreud on Friday, July 23, 2010, 09:19:43 A couple of quotes from Celtic fans mainly i suppose :-[
"Caddis is a cracking player. I actually think he's better than Hinkel, who was on the verge of Germany's World cup squad. Good pace, and an outstanding cross. If he plays regularly I wouldn't be surprised to see him get a Scotland call up." "Caddis, £700k The same guy who at just 20 had Ronaldinho and Henry in his back pocket when we played Barca in the CL last 16, he has so much ability it's untrue, he has every bit of potential to become Celtic's Alan Hutton who went to Spurs for £9m after one good season at Rangers, letting him go for peanuts at this stage is madness! If Swindon manage to get him, fair play, you've got an absolute gem on your hands." Seems like he could be a good league 1 player? Title: Re: Adver News: Jobs for the Bhoys Post by: jayohaitchenn on Friday, July 23, 2010, 09:20:27 ferry left of midfield? a midfield 4 of mcgovern, douglas, prutton and ferry is way too good for this division. skills :) Prutton can play wide right, JPM on the left. Title: Re: Adver News: Jobs for the Bhoys Post by: Reg Smeeton on Friday, July 23, 2010, 09:25:30 A couple of quotes from Celtic fans mainly i suppose :-[ "Caddis is a cracking player. Title: Re: Adver News: Jobs for the Bhoys Post by: jayohaitchenn on Friday, July 23, 2010, 09:26:28 When you're trying to get into the Championship that's sort of the idea you senile old twat :)
Title: Re: Adver News: Jobs for the Bhoys Post by: Ginginho on Friday, July 23, 2010, 09:29:35 I've never seen Caddis play, but if he's atleast as good as Cuthbert
Loving the comments above from the Celtic fans. Let's hope Wilson pulls it off. Title: Re: Adver News: Jobs for the Bhoys Post by: Reg Smeeton on Friday, July 23, 2010, 09:32:01 When you're trying to get into the Championship that's sort of the idea you senile old twat :) Stick to the face paint  Title: Re: Adver News: Jobs for the Bhoys Post by: jonny72 on Friday, July 23, 2010, 09:33:25 When you're trying to get into the Championship that's sort of the idea you senile old twat :) I reckon that was another factor in Greer going - Doncaster releasing him shows he isn't a Championship player. Whilst Cuthbert, LJF, Morrison might not be yet either at least they've got age on their side and the potential to improve which Greer hasn't. Fitton and Wilson have always said they're building for the future which means a team of Championship quality players. Title: Re: Adver News: Jobs for the Bhoys Post by: jayohaitchenn on Friday, July 23, 2010, 09:35:52 Greer who? Never heard of him.
Title: Re: Adver News: Jobs for the Bhoys Post by: Mexicano Rojo on Friday, July 23, 2010, 09:39:29 you know easily the best brighton player, and not even our best central defender
Title: Re: Adver News: Jobs for the Bhoys Post by: juddie on Friday, July 23, 2010, 10:13:44 hence the creaming of the pants, Reg...
Title: Re: Adver News: Jobs for the Bhoys Post by: magicroundabout on Friday, July 23, 2010, 10:15:20 whats with all this LJF lovin. understand he had hard times but he is no way going to replace Greer in the centre of defence.
at least i fucking hope not Title: Re: Adver News: Jobs for the Bhoys Post by: Batch on Friday, July 23, 2010, 10:26:26 whats with all this LJF lovin. understand he had hard times but he is no way going to replace Greer in the centre of defence. at least i fucking hope not Likewise. We all respect LJF for all he had to go through. But he's not in the same class as Greer at CB. I'd assume Morrison would be the starter anyway. But he is not at greers level yet either. Bench: Smith, Manks, Pericard, Timlin, Lecs, AOB, A N Other A really strong starting 11 if Morrison is replaced with an old head at the back. If not, i'd rather start LJF Title: Re: Adver News: Jobs for the Bhoys Post by: juddie on Friday, July 23, 2010, 10:36:50 not talking about LJF, talking about Caddis and ferry! Centre-back will sort itself out. I'm sure we'll sign another. Maybe not now...
Title: Re: Adver News: Jobs for the Bhoys Post by: reeves4england on Friday, July 23, 2010, 11:15:23 I think more people are putting hope in Morrison than LJF, although both are young so either could potentially grow into the role. I for one hope that Sean can fill Greer's boots. He made mistakes before but Southend fans rated him very highly. Whilst it is far from guaranteed that he'll be good enough, there is a chance he could step up.
Title: Re: Adver News: Jobs for the Bhoys Post by: suttonred on Friday, July 23, 2010, 11:22:22 TBF I would have been rated highly by Southend fans last season. Big chance for SM to prove himself for us this season though.
Title: Re: Adver News: Jobs for the Bhoys Post by: Reg Smeeton on Friday, July 23, 2010, 11:57:20 hence the creaming of the pants, Reg... I'd have thought this might be a case of premature ejaculation...we know Ferry is a decent player, and Caddis may well prove to be....I'd have thought a vague stirring in the loins, but not quite a semi would have been more the order of the day. I'm not blaming the Adver...there's is just flirtatious behaviour, a low cut top....just surprises me that some of our fans are so easily excited. Title: Re: Adver News: Jobs for the Bhoys Post by: RJack on Friday, July 23, 2010, 12:14:56 I hope the deal comes off but i'll only believe it when i see it.
Too times this shit has blown up in the club & fans faces. Agents are the most dshonourable bastards in football and they will get the best deal to line their pockets Title: Re: Adver News: Jobs for the Bhoys Post by: juddie on Friday, July 23, 2010, 12:44:10 it's not just that we're buying ferry and caddis, Reg, it's what the move represents. We're offering big(ish) money for players of a higher standard, something we're not used to. Most of the players we've bought in recent years until last summer have been on the cheap, or from loan spells. This represents something of a new era. We mean business, and it gives me a lob on.

I don't think they have on this one.Title: Re: Adver News: Jobs for the Bhoys Post by: Stegenfreud on Friday, July 23, 2010, 12:59:31 it's not just that we're buying ferry and caddis, Reg, it's what the move represents. This. I feel no shame for getting a tweak in my pants at the prospect of paying a fee for a couple of up and coming players..... beats the shit out of signing the likes of Coca Fola onionbaji and Steve 'the crab' Adams on frees (not sure why these 2 stand out in my mind as non lob-on inducing signings) Title: Re: Adver News: Jobs for the Bhoys Post by: jayohaitchenn on Friday, July 23, 2010, 13:59:30 ..... the Adver...there's is ......
