I got the thread right this time :-[ Title: Re: Brilliant people who are now dead Post by: Spy on Tuesday, July 20, 2010, 12:31:37 wtf? In what way was she brilliant? I kind of thought that too. The overeaction to her death was possibly the most bizarre, ridiculous event I can remember. But then I remembered she did loads of charity work so fair play. I think she was a kind person. She wouldn't have come to my mind as a "legend" tho. Title: Re: Brilliant people who are now dead Post by: Anteater on Tuesday, July 20, 2010, 12:32:52 Ghandi

The overeaction to her death was possibly the most bizarre, ridiculous event I can remember. But then I remembered she did loads of charity work so fair play. I think she was a kind person. She wouldn't have come to my mind as a "legend" tho. Well if I had loads of spare time and money to burn I would probably do lots of charity work as well. Would that make me brilliant? Psychopaths are ok then? Title: Re: Brilliant people who are now dead Post by: Spy on Tuesday, July 20, 2010, 12:46:04 Talk talk are you saying Diana's charity work is invalid because she was rich?
I kind of see what you're saying but I don't think someones charity work is worthless because they're rich and/or famous. Especially if you can see they are moved by some of the stuff they see. As I said I don't think she was some sort of saint. The glorification of her when she died was ridiculous. Especially as a lot of the people glorifying her were the tabloids that caused her so much shit and the people who bought those tabloids. I liked her on Spitting Image If it's spitting image puppets, I nominate Thatchers and especially when she was flirting with Hitler who lived next door, sheer brilliance. I've got round the dead part by assuming as a puppet it was never alive so must be dead. Also the real Thatcher is a zombie. Dead dead proper dead. So Mr Guevara fought for freedom, did he? Do you fancy living in Cuba? Don't know if you've been there at all but I have been on occasions and had the opportunity to hear both sides of the 'history' about the regime, although not complete angels by any standards generally their shit state over the years has been a result of the blockade imposed on them by the USA because they didn't tow Uncle Sams line. A significant influence on their insularity has been the very fact that USA has been successful in painting them as an international pariah and convincing many countries and people not to deal with them. It is also quite a different place now than it was even just 15 years ago resulting from some relaxation of trade constraints etc over recent years.
