DANNY Wilson has urged Sean Morrison to step up to the plate this season, believing the 2010/11 campaign is a big year for the Town defender and his fellow young teammates. http://www.thisisswindontownfc.co.uk/news/headlines/8264850.Wilson___It_s_Sean_s_time_to_shine_/?ref=rss Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson: 'It's Sean's time to shine' Post by: Crispy on Saturday, July 10, 2010, 06:13:28 Cracking player is sean, prone to a few mistakes, but arnt most youngsters?

Must admit, first thing that came into my head whilst reading it too. Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson: 'It's Sean's time to shine' Post by: Batch on Saturday, July 10, 2010, 07:06:48 Is this code for we're selling Greer? Bloody hope not, we need a strong spine to the team. Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson: 'It's Sean's time to shine' Post by: OOH! I think Lecs will get the nod ahead of SM unfortunately for him. I suppose it depends on how the both perform in pre season. I think he was good against Leyton Orient last season, I was impressed, mainly with his attitude. His time will definitely come, I think he could easily be a good CCC player. He just needs to keep putting in the shifts when DW calls on him and taking his opportunities well, like he did last season.Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson: 'It's Sean's time to shine' Post by: china red on Saturday, July 10, 2010, 10:57:38 I think Lecs will get the nod ahead of SM unfortunately for him. I thought his original deal expired this summer. Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson: 'It's Sean's time to shine' Post by: HexEnduction on Saturday, July 10, 2010, 12:15:16 I read it as though we might be selling Greer and Morrison is getting talked up to compensate for the imminent departure. Surely we shouldn't be selling to anyone in the same league as us though? It's not as if we need the money for fuck sake.

Terrific Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson: 'It's Sean's time to shine' Post by: Batch on Saturday, July 10, 2010, 12:50:57 think he was good against Leyton Orient last season, Positionally he was all over the shop. Great tackle to deny a certain goal though. Ant that's my point. The lad can and will do it and has to step up and learn sometime. But we were all hoping for another promotion charge this year. And that doesn't happen by replacing better/more experienced players with developing ones. Meh. Perhaps I was expecting too much from next season. Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson: 'It's Sean's time to shine' Post by: glos_robin on Saturday, July 10, 2010, 14:03:18 Personally I think Morrison is a bit overrated and it's just his height that masks some glaring shortfalls. If we do start the season with Morrison, JFL and Cuthbert then we'll have gone backwards on last season.
I'm now suddenly a bit concerned if I'm honest as at the moment we are weaker up front, on the wings and now at the back than last season which isn't a great position to be in. Selling to a devisional rival is usually a big no no which makes this all a bit puzzling, we aren't in need of money or something are we? Selling to a devisional rival is usually a big no no which makes this all a bit puzzling, we aren't in need of money or something are we? I agree with all of that about Morrison. In terms of ability Id compare him to Matt Heywood. When he was on top of his game he was a decent player. But I dont think Morrison will ever play regular football above league 1. Some of his mistakes last season were terrible, and he didnt seem to take it particularly well, blaming others when they were 100% his fault. He's a player who needs to stick to the simple aspects of defending, he got caught in posession too often last season. To be honest, I can see him being released in a years time, but I hope he proves me wrong and shows form good enough to keep Lescinel on the bench. The only thing Id disagree with is the money for Greer. I think its a good offer, but time will tell. His injury record was very bad at Doncaster and it could be we have been lucky. Personally I'd hope a new centre back comes in and both are kept on the bench Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson: 'It's Sean's time to shine' Post by: Spencer_White on Saturday, July 10, 2010, 14:22:38 Weve only got 2 strikers, in my opinion we need 4. 1 of which needs to be of a good standard. Thats the priority.
We now need another centre back, but he can be a free, a squad player we can afford to take a punt on. Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson: 'It's Sean's time to shine' Post by: glos_robin on Saturday, July 10, 2010, 14:30:55 I agree we need 2 strikers I still just really hope we aren't relying on Morrison, Kennedy and Thompson coming too the fore though and hope they aren't forming too bigger part of our plans. They should just be bonus players and personally Morrison aside I don't think Thompson or Kennedy are likely to ever make it from what I've seen.
We need a few players for this Austria tour now though as suddenly without last season loanees and the loss of Greer, Paynter, Easton et al we are looking a bit bare squad wise. Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson: 'It's Sean's time to shine' Post by: DV on Saturday, July 10, 2010, 17:03:20 I think Morrison is a decent player, however I think he is at the age where he needs regular games.
Coming in for the odd game here and there isn't good for him. Last season (Walsall and MK) showed that. However, at his age and with the amount of games under his belt. He won't be a leader, he won't be a talker. He won't be a Captian. With Greer being a CUNT we don't just need a CB we need a specific type of CB. We need a very much like for like replacement. It will be tough. Cuthbert is a cracking player but I don't think he has the experience to lead our defence. Fuck it, we'll probably sell Morrison to Franchise or something Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson: 'It's Sean's time to shine' Post by: Spencer_White on Saturday, July 10, 2010, 20:49:54 Im interested to see how vocal Rose will be on the pitch.
He looks another leader to me. A big character. Between him and Lucas maybe they can keep Cuthbert/Lescinel/Amankwaah in shape? Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson: 'It's Sean's time to shine' Post by: reeves4england on Saturday, July 10, 2010, 20:52:30 Im interested to see how vocal Rose will be on the pitch. It's hard to lead a line from the wing though. If he's vocal it will obviously have advantages though. He looks another leader to me. A big character. The only thing holding him back is game time Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson: 'It's Sean's time to shine' Post by: Arriba on Saturday, July 10, 2010, 21:00:44 i really hope he gets his chance and takes it.
Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson: 'It's Sean's time to shine' Post by: Nijholts Nuts on Sunday, July 11, 2010, 09:45:07 I wouldnt even discount Manks coming to the fore and showing a bit of leadership. He's been knocking around for a while a we all know he knows what he's doing. I think, at this moment in time, there is a big opportunity for one of the current first team defenders to stand up and be counted. Greer left some BIG empty shoes...go fill 'em.

We've not really seen him play since then (one appearence against Orient I think) so he may have come on in leaps and bounds for all we know. Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson: 'It's Sean's time to shine' Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Sunday, July 11, 2010, 10:15:06 I like Morrison. That loan at Southend must have done him some good last season. I sure hope it has. With Greer seemingly now gone it's a chance for him to get back into the first team picture.
Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson: 'It's Sean's time to shine' Post by: Benzel on Sunday, July 11, 2010, 10:38:43 He's got something about him, definitely and I would not be opposed to seeing him play more this season, but we still need to bring someone else in.
Title: Re: Adver News: Wilson: 'It's Sean's time to shine' Post by: Spencer_White on Sunday, July 11, 2010, 10:46:18 My take on Morrison is that he's got a lot of belief in himself.
He's had fault free games where he's really shined, like the Southampton home game. But if he makes one mistake early in a game you might as well haul him off straight away. He just seems to get very frustrated with himself and seems to lose the plot a bit, and then make even more mistakes. Walsall away in particular was an absolute disaster. He needs to improve 2 things, his decision making, centre backs cannot get caught in posession, ever, its a giveaway goal. And secondly his temprament. With experience he'll learn that mistakes happen, you wipe the slate clean and start again. Which again, fits in perfectly with what Spencer just said about Morrison. |
