Title: easton says nooooooooo
Post by: singingiiiffy on Friday, July 2, 2010, 14:50:12
obviously knew that he wouldnt be getting much game time again with prutton signing which is fair enough. will be a good signing for another league 1 team with a string of games under him. douglas and prutton when fit, timlin (  :( )as backup...need some more.

I can see us still getting Ferry.

who ever it is must have in the back of their mind how much game time they will get as it looks quite a pairing when prutton signs. i would have prutton over ferry no question.

I wonder if Timlin will sign or if he will try and find something else - shame on Easton but hope he finds regular first team football

Still a brave decision unless he's got something lined up though.

good luck to him.must have something lined up, as you dont turn down contracts if you dont

Logic says Timlin will reject also, as he was behind Easton in the back up stakes. Both should find a lower L1, upper L2 side with a 2 year deal.

Timlin stays for another year too.

Good Luck to Easton, probably got a SPL side lined up I would imagine? Was great for us in 2007/08 season shame he never really got back in the team after but we have better players now.

Well, logic sucks....As do my thoughts.

Timlin is obviously staying as he cannot get a better deal anywhere else.

Would rather Easton stayed than Timlin, but there you go. Doubt he'll play much.

good luck easton. too good and too experienced to sit on the bench.

Timlin is a better player than Easton, just needs a bit of confidence and consistency.

Probably true, also being only 25 he has a bit more time on his side

I couldn't disagree more. Timlim flatters to deceive and time is ruuning out for him to realise some of his promise. Maybe a month or two loan at a lower level would help him realise his potential and get his confidence up.

We're keeping the wrong one :(

It's a pity Malpas fucked him about, he was fantastic in his first season here. Never looked the same since though sadly. Still better than michael timlin though

agree with the diagreers! I think Easton is a very good player and offers far more than Timlin. Don't think Timlin's shit, just not as reliable... shame to see eastie go. Good player, nice fella, good luck.

No chance.

No pace, can't tackle, doesn't score goals.

Lays off the odd decent pass but never makes an impact on games. Easton offers much more.

Actually you've just described Easton as well. I like him as a pro and he did good stuff outside of football, but I can honestly say I never saw him have a good game for us. Maybe I was just unlucky( 30 odd times)

In my eyes, Easton > Timlin, who just seems to hide behind the ref, commit silly fouls, and misplace passes.

Easton has a quality season and was never given a chance to reproduce that form. I would have rather kept him than Timlin.

Although Timlin did score one of the best goals I have ever seen at the County Ground, albeit in a reserve match against Bristol City - only about 20 people saw it. I expect the other 19 tell the story 'I was there when Timlin scored one of the best goals of all time' but I expect no one believes the story.

You really had to be there.

Well Celtic are after Bullard and Liam Lawrence. If i was ferry i would be knocking on Lennons door asking for a move to be honest.

He seemed pretty keen on the idea of staying here before the play-off final. I guess it's a case of trying to find the cash that Celtic would want.

I'll have you know Easton has scored 4 times as many goals for us than Timlin  ;)

Timlin may not be first choice but i really don't think we will be able to get better than him to just come and keep the bench warm.May aswell keep him here and save Wilson a job of having to mess around trying to find a replacement.

Good luck to Easton... Good pro, I hope he's sorted himself a good little deal somewhere.

I liked Easton, Im a bit gutted he left in all honesty. The times I saw him play this season, he didnt really put a foot wrong. Granted he didnt set my world on fire either, but I think that cuntfuck of a spactic jock Malpas ruined him during his stay.

Good luck Easty, I shall miss reading your adver column 'Easty's Eye'...all the best.

On that note, anyone got any ideas/preferences of players to take over Easton's adver column?

oh dear, we've lost Easton because he cant sesure a place against a loan player we dont even know yet. sad state of affairs. lets hope we give Timlin a chance, because he could improve no end year on year if given the right support.

... Easton was an adequate squad player and obviously popular within the set-up (Wilson would have never offered him terms otherwise).

It's not obviously for football reasons Spencer, it depends on how you look at it. He may have had offers from a couple of L2 clubs (I don't know, just supposing) who were offering less money but guranteed football. Instead of that, he decided to take more money from Swindon just to sit on the bench. I don't know whether that happened, I'm just saying there's more than one way of looking at the same thing.

maybe he had faith in his ability, and thought he might have got a regular place last season?
as that didn't transpire, maybe he's found himself a club where he thinks he might feature more this coming term?

I agree in some ways but last season it was evident our first eleven looked a bit tired. Maybe a bit of strength in depth could mean a bit of rotation, keep everyone on their toes and a bit more fresh.

Just not sure Timlin could be one of those players and the way Wilson used both Timlin and Easton last season seems like he shares a similar viewpoint.

For some reason I thought you were talking about Timlin even though you clearly said Easton.

Note to self...read posts properly before replying and making a tit of yourself ::)

I fucking love Craig Easton, was absolute class the first season he was here until like many others was ruined by the inept Maurice Malpas :cunt:

Shame hes gone, good luck Easty.

Might go back up to the SPL? Dundee United again? He certainly wouldnt be going to Inverness.

Timlin is just gash and has signed the deal as he has blatantly not been offered anything anywhere else.

I would’ve preferred Easton to stay over Timlin, but good luck to him, I always rated the guy - played well at the arse end of this season.

But I also have faith in Wilson, who obviously sees some good in Timlin hence the contract offer, if he thought he wasn’t worth the wage he wouldn’t have bothered. His judgements on players have been pretty good so far so let’s see.

I've seen glimpses of Timlins ability - but just not enough, he seems to be a confidence player and I'm not sure how he'll get the confidence if he doesn’t play regularly...
