Title: Any season ticket holders fancy a beer?
Post by: RedOx on Friday, April 16, 2010, 12:52:33
Just heard officially from the club that Millwall tickets are only on sale to ST holders and that they will not go on general sale if any remain - sorry if you already knew this but I couldn't be bothered to read through the threads!

So any season ST holders who have decided not to go, fancy selling me their ticket?!

I know people are waiting to see how important the game is before buying deciding whether to buy their ticket, but I definitely want to go so would like to get a ticket asap.

Cheers

Redox

i dont blame you for trying, but dont understand why only season ticket holders should be allowed to buy them.
it is not standard procedure, and we are not a club with many hoolies.

The bloke at the club also said that they wouldn't let him sell 2 tickets to each ST holder. Means hassle for people like JFW who have to arrange to get their mates STs and voucher.

Thing is, I'm thinking of going without a ticket (from the station to the away end is pretty safe) and if we haven't sold out, they may let us in..........but of course they may check for tickets before then so may be a non-starter!

I'm at the wycombe game next week if anyone does have one spare.

the inevitable handing out of season tickets to mates isn't fair.
plenty of loyal fans dont have season tickets and will miss out.season tickets are for home games anyway

I know but the ST argument goes round in circles and is not worth starting again!  :)

As you can see, I don't live in Swindon, and never have, so attend home games sometimes but mostly go away. I buy tickets over the phone so the club have my purchase history, and have done for 20 years, but the club said that it was out of their hands. They said to look on the website should the decison change if there are unsold tickets, but by the time I get the time off to head to Swindon, they'll all be snapped up!  >:(

Thats a very cack handed approach from the club. Surely a large proportion of Non ST holders are on the database, I know i am. Also what about people who have bought ST's for next season, again they are on the database, again that's me also. Really peed off, that with all that, and the fact i've been to Carlisle, hartlepool and  8 or 9 other god forsaken outposts this year, i can't go to my closest game. If they do sell out to ST holders fair enough, but would be shoddy if we didn't take our full allocation for a lack of a bit of thought.

Well I got a Leeds ticket without a ST and how many ST holders wish they went to that!! :D

Think it depends on 3 things:how many STs don't fancy a trip to Millwall; how many want to save their money for the POs; how important will the match actually be - promotion game?

an away game loyalty scheme could be a thing that may need looking at for the future, as this has opened a big can of worms.

to be honest i think i will probably be able to get a ticket, but wont like the way i will have to go about it.
has it actually been confirmed that tickets are only available to season ticket holder only?

Apart from not having a ST for next year, I think we are in the same boat SR. I've always preferred the awaydays and was looking forward to this one as it is closest to me (after Wycombe) travelwise.  >:(

I genuinely don't understand the gripe.

Of course season tickets holders come first, and then the remainder do on general sale. For the bigger matches the remaining tickets are sold to those with ticket stubs...... and so on.......

So some numpty who has not been all season wants first dibs on a ticket for the biggest match of the season and people bitch about it? What about the lad/girl who has attended most matches but misses out because of Johnny Armchair?

I emailed the club and that's what they said (ST holders only) at lunctime. They said it was the Met not the club.

Get two tickets SR and I'll buy (some of )the beers in the Market Porter!  8)

Seriously mate, if you can get a spare......

I am sure I saw something about an away club being sorted next season. Also I believe the MET Police asked for season ticket holders first.....so if any get nicked, they have your details if you give your name as they will be on the club data base.

Title: Re: Any season ticket holders fancy a beer?
Post by: herthab on Friday, April 16, 2010, 13:31:22
The club won't have any say in this at all. Do you really think they would choose to possibly lose sales if ST holders don't purchase the full allocation?

It's always been like this for big games, ST Holders always get priority. The only difference is this time any remaining tickets won't go on open sale and as I previously said, that's not down to the club.

I personally think it's a pretty fair way. (But then I've got a season ticket)

i dont think anyone has a problem with season tickets getting first shout on tickets.they are rewarded for committing to the club upfront so fair enough.
but when tickets are only available to those people, it opens it up to abuse.
that's what will happen and is unjust

I don't disagree. Just think it's the police that should be getting stick, not the club(s).

My son's not going to Millwall and I'm using it to buy another ticket for someone, but at least I know he's a real supporter and goes to away games anyway. The problem is daytrippers who'll get hold of tickets at the expense of real fans who really want to go and support the team.

I think its only fair that Season ticket holders get 1st offer on tickets for games like this.  Its easy to administrate from the clubs point of view and the majority of hardcore fans are season ticket holders.

However the club could have told regular attending but non-season ticket holding fans to keep their ticket stubs for both home and away games a little while back and dish them out in bands ie 5-10 stubs 1st, 0-5 next then general sale.

I dont think the club had any say or notice until the tickets arrived. If they did I am sure they would have said to hold onto tickets, much like they did I believe for the Walsall promotion game from L2 a few years ago (or was it Rovers away)

obviosuly its irrellevant anyway as the met police are cunts.

But the same situation is going to arise for the play off semi away leg (if needed!) Apart from colchester we are likley to get a decent allocation for any of our potential opponants.

People should have their season ticket tattooed onto their arm, that'd stop them lending them out.

Fair point, but at what point did we all start believing that we could actually definitely get a play off place and then even get promotion?

Not disagreeing with you but the last month or so has been a bit of a roller coaster.

Got my tickets today but.....

A Membership scheme would solve alot of problems for loyal fans who do not have a season ticket such as myself and other fans from outside Swindon, with more points being awarded for further, unpopular away games. Then they would sell to ST first, then members with bands on points.A modern version of the stubs situation, and one I would expect to see implemented ahead of next season.

This would solve the security issue, with each ticket attributed to a membership card and database although the security thing that someone picked up on won't work for Milwall though as it's unreserved seating, so no seat is connected to anyone.

No problem Mr Head, good luck. Thing is that the same issue will arise at the play off away leg:

Hudds may be ok, big ground
Lids - STs will get most of them (fair enough)
Charlton - see Lids above
Colchester - sounded like a nightmare

Huddersfield will be fine, leeds we can take upto 4,000 so season ticket holders wont take all of them id say. Similar for Charlton, big old away end. Col U could be tight

Everyone who wants to go and hasn't got a ticket should just turn up on the day! If there are serveral hundered people outside the away end without tickets I am sure the police will open up the lower tier. They would rather have you in the ground where you are under control. The idea of hundereds of town fans wondering around millwall or for that matter any ground will not appeal to the police.

If I don't get a ticket I'm going down to the ground finding myself a steward offer him £30 and see if he lets me in. Whats the worst that can happen?

Not happy about this at all. Living in London, i didnt buy a ST this year because i didnt think i would be able to make many games, but that has turned out wrong. I have been to most away games and quite a few home games and yet i still cant get a ticket for what could be our most important game of the season.

I totally agree that ST holders should get to buy their tickets first and if they sell out then, thats fair enough. But why not put the remaining tickets on general Sale? I agree with Sutton red that people who are on the database should be able to but tickets as the club have thier details anyone, no different to ST Holders.

Problem is that there won't be hundreds there. More like 30. We're not a big club, dare I say it, and like was said before, those than really want to go will get tickets as  ST holders will give the tickets  to their mates who want to go. Those of us that are not swindon based or don't know any ST holders (like me) are fooked.

No chance.

Our away support has been gash this season. Ive got a feeling we wont even sell out when they go on general sale.

Most of the season ticket holders at the CG are either old farts or new age family fans who wont fancy a trip to Millwall.

The fact is a large proportion of Town fans go with family or friends and to be fair why have all the shit thats going to happen at Millwall...personally i think its over hyped and i cant wait but alot dont see it like that..........Leeds are as notorius and get bigger crowds but if you keep your head down and dont act a twat it will be a great day....we will sell the allocation and we if they were on general sale and we need a win to go up we would sell 4000 no problem....alot are waiting to see what happens the next two weeks.

I've seen more trouble at Brizzle Wovers than I ever have at Millwall.

By the way, we DONT want any sort of 'club' for away tickets.

Its a complete con. We would only need it for 3 games a season max. Clubs like Leeds and Norwich have them because they are selling out every single away allocation.

Whats happened is fair. Season ticket holders get first go.

Its 1 per season ticket, but it is unreserved seating. So no problem.

Good post. Leeds away was great. Just have to use your head and act accordingly.

I bet Leeds would have been a lot worse if that was the last game of the season and a promotion decider...

Completely agree. This seems like an isolated game due to the high demand from home fans and the fact we haven't taken a large following away all season.

It goes on general sale eventually anyway, so moaning gits like arriba will be happy.
