They know that the polar bear is safe and has survived multiple warmings and coolings over the past ten thousand millenia. They feel sorry for the croc instead, they never get invited to parties or opening nights.

You can't really argue against evolution.
Most of the Dinosaurs couldn't survive a meteor hit, but the CROC did. Polar Bears are going extinct whereas Crocs are survivors.
But the really telling facts are when you look at how humans (the planets most dangerous animal )fare against them.
Statistics show that crocodiles kill roughly 3000 people a year. The problem with this statistic is that when a croc kills there are no remains left so it is a very hard statistic to answer correctly.

In all of Canada, only eight people have been killed by polar bears in the past 30 years.
In the U. S. (Alaska) during the same time period, only one person was killed. In all of recorded history, only 19 people have been killed by polar bears in Russia. In all instances in which a human was killed by a polar bear, the animal in question was undernourished or had been provoked.

Voted croc. I doubt the bears ability to get through the crocs skin.

There are hundreds of thousands of crocodiles world wide - with around 23 different species...

There are reported to be only around 20,000 Polar Bears left.

Polar Bears live in cold places without many humans to kill - crocs live everywhere....

This tells me that if there were as many Polar Bears living near people as there are crocs - Polar Bears would have a field day and kill tens of thousands of humans....

Therefore the Polar Bear is definitely harder !!!  At least it made sense to me :)

But the main point is that their are very few if any recorded cases of the PB killing humans unless very hungry or provoked.

Surely hardness is about capability, and I'm sure the Bear is capable of battering fuck out of a crocodile if it had to.

Also, how can anything be harder than a polar bear when its limbs are only this big?

The point about humans is that we are the most dangerous animal on the planet. We have more to fear from Crocs than Polar Bears.
The bear would have a job to batter the Croc, cos a) the Crocs Skin can even deflect bullets b) the Croc would eat the fucker.

Polar bears are so hard they choose to live in the most inhospitable environment on the planet and when it finally starts to warm up a bit they'd rather die off than turn soft.

They didn't do a Polar Bear vs Croc, but they did do a Lion vs Croc & the Croc won. I think that the Polar Bear would go the same way.

While a 20-foot Nile croc. is probably a fabulous beast (?!!?) , - the world record croc is actually bigger than that . It was an estuarine crocodile ( Crocodylus porosus ) reckoned to yield the biggest individuals of any living species . The trophy belonged to a Frenchman , Paul de la Gironiere , who lived near Luzon in the Philippines . In 1825 he was greatly annoyed by a crocodile that killed & ' ate ' one of his horses . Nevertheless six hours & uncounted spearthrusts later it was still alive . La Gironiere had fired several musket shots from close range , once into the reptiles mouth , seemingly without effect . Then a resourceful hunter drove a lance into the animals back with a hammer and by a fluke found the animals spinal chord and killed the croc .
