England didnt quite get 100% out of their group last time, but they can in this one.

24 points please.

Bit of a boring draw though.

Is it one through from the group and one into the playoffs? If so I wonder which of the other three teams will be in the playoff, Switzerland presumably.

Group winners plus best runner up qualify automatically, remaining runner ups go in to play offs.

What the fuck is Capello on? I know you need to respect your opponents but really....

Quote
"All four opponents are really dangerous," Capello said.

Bulgaria away might be a tricky trip, but all of those should be piss easy. Might try and get to one of the England Wales games I think.

Tougher group than it looks. Montenegro have a bit of a false position in the rankings don't they?

Switzerland are no pushovers either. Wales will be out for blood and could easily nick a point or three. We will qualify I'm sure, it is quite a tough group.

I might make an effort to go to the Switzerland game. Having never been to an England game how easy is it going to be for me to get a ticket? I'm guessing no chance.

You'll need to join England fans plus, after that it's pretty easy, just apply early and you should be fine.

For a close by away game pretty much no chance there are 26,000 England Fan Plus members and I would imagine we will be allocated about 5,000 tickets for this game. Always easy to get a ticket outside as long as you dont mind being in the home end.

Cheers. Of course I would much rather be in the away section but the Swiss are neutral anyway so shouldn't be too much hassle.

Anyone know when the fixtures will be announced? I am going to be in the States for 3 weeks in October so hope nothing clashes!

the dates are

a) 3/4 and 7 September 2010
b) 8/9 and 12 October 2010
c) 25/26 and 29 March 2011
d) 3/4 and 7 June 2011
e) 2/3 and 6 September 2011
f) 7/8 and 11 October 2011

I think they give the teams the chance to come up with an sgreed fixture list and then after 30 days if they can not agree UEFA do the fixtures.

Cheers. Will keep an eye on the fixtures. Montenegro is supposed to be lovely so wouldn't mind a trip there. Bulgaria is cheap as chips but I've already been. Switzerland is the closest to me and I could probably drive there depending on the City they play in.

Hopefully I will be going to all the away games although the Wales one will be tough to get tickets for.

Almost certain to be Basel as it's a 40,000 stadium and the other 3 cities only have 30,000. Should be easy enough for you to get to I imagine.

Cheers ZR. Basel is 3 hour 26 drive from me (Or could go on train, which is a palava). Hopefully its a Saturday game, nice weekend in Switzerland (a place I haven't been to yet)

Surely no England fan gives a shit about Wales?  That would be a bit like Man Utd fans hating Nuneaton Borough.

Welsh fan do harbour a hatred of England, but it annoys them more to know we don't give a shit.

There wasn't any major bother when we played them in World Cup qualifiers in the mid-00's, was there? Do we just naturally assume that there will be trouble because for the last 20 years we've been told that England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland fans simply cannot behave around eachother.

We need Home Nations fixtures within our qualifiers because it just keeps everything a little bit more interesting.
