"I take more pleasure in seeing Chelsea lose than I do in seeing QPR win at the moment.

I sat through so many matches when we were absolute dogs**t under the likes of Ray Harford and with people like Paul Bruce, Matthew Brazier and Mark Perry in the squad and I never felt like this.

The club isn't ours anymore but moreso than that - football is just properly gash these days.

I hate the Prem and the myth that it is exciting this year. Man City breaking into the top four isn't exciting. They spent loads of money. It's no more exciting that Nameless C*** getting to number 1 in the charts after winning the X-Factor.

I hate the myth of Arsene's kids. Buying some French kid when he's 17, playing him in the League Cup and then selling him when he's 20 after about 3 appearances in the league is NOTHING SPECIAL.

I hate hearing about Liverpool/Man Utd's debt but nothing ever happening about it. A club needs to go to the wall for the money thing to change but it doesn't happen. Why the **** are Charlton, Leeds and Southampton still in business?

I hate Frank Lampard's stupid f'ing face. I hate that Joe Cole's tongue is never in his mouth, the downsy spacker. I hate John Terry being England captain when he's CLEARLY AN OAF.

I hate the England team.

I hate young exciting wingers who have nothing but pace. Tony Scully had nothing but pace.

I hate the FA Cup. There may be little shocks like last night but for the most part you know who's going to win it. Unless a team throws away all their financial security to win it a la Pompey.

I hate Harry f'ing Redknapp. And Jamie Redknapp. And Louise Redknapp. And the Wii.

I hate James Nesbitt, Eammon Holmes and f***ing everyone.

I hate Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer.

I hate Garth Crooks.

I hate Sky Sports.

I hate that when a lower league player beats 10 players and chips the keeper it doesn't matter but if Rooney scores from more than 20 yards it's amazing.

I hate that everything football related has to have 'Club Foot' playing behind it.

I hate Mark Lawrensen for not coming out. 'I do like a big man at the back'. I bet you do.

I hate any advert that portrays football to be about anything other than pain and disappointment.

I hate any advert that mentions pies at football.

I hate Lee Hughes and the fact that he makes a living from the game. I hate Marlon King and any team that signs him when he gets out. I hate that it'll probably be us.

I hate Phil Brown.

I hate 'well the ball is a lot lighter now and will cause goalkeepers real problems this summer' before EVERY F'ING TOURNAMENT.

I hate that Kieron Dyer earned more in the time I took to write this post than I'll earn this month.

I hate Adrian Durham, Ian Wright and Alan Brazil.

I hate that a comeback from 4-0 down at half time (TWICE) means nothing because we aren't f'ing scouse.

I hate the book 'Cass' by Cass Pennant. It is honestly the stupidest thing I've ever read. Chapter 1: Millwall. 'Yeah we took 50 to Millwall. During the Manchester United vs. Leeds United game I swear the ITV commentator said that Manchester United had never been knocked out of the 3rd Round only to correct himself with the Bournemouth stat a couple of minutes later.

I hate it when you tell someone you support Swindon they ask "So who is your Premiership team"

an enjoyable read but alot of it wouldn't be said if qpr were in the prem.

I disagree, when someone says this to me I immediately know that this person knows very little about football, has probably never been inside a football ground and definitely doesn't live in the city/town of the team of he/she supports. 

So then you can tell them to fuck off.

I haven't been asked this in ages. All you need to do is listen to 6-0-6 to understand that both top flight fans and media know or care about the slums beneath them... Unless they signed a player on Football Manager.

I fucking hate glory hunters. These people who live hundreds of miles from where there team is, never go to matches, have no connection to team or area and supports them because there top of the premier League.

Sofa supporters are stupid, they're not real supporters (much like Franchise or Reading), they have no idea who's good, who's a hard worker, who were the louder fans, they get their opinions from the papers or listen to the pundits. They also don't know what it feels like to see your own net bulge, or feel the tension when hanging onto a 1 goal lead. Telly supporters have no idea of the emotional pain we go through.

A friend of mine frequents various prem games, and explains that some players are just amazing in the flesh, far more than you can ever appreciate watching telly and these sofa fans just have no idea.

Not sure I get the point about 'Franchise' there, surely with them its a case of before they didnt have a local team to support in the flesh, but now they do. Isnt that a good thing a it means they are no longer supporting a prem team from a distance? You cant really blame them for how their local team came about!

I fully expect to get shouted down on that point, but I dont see the problem with them. I used to, but I then thought about it and got over it.

Reading is a completely different matter though....

Manchester United/Chelsea/Arsenal/Liverpool/Spurs are in my blood, my uncle/dad/gramp/long lost second cousin supported them and used to go to Old Trafford/Stamford Bridge/Highbury/Anfield/White Hart Lane 4 times a season. I went once when I was 3 and I've been a supporter ever since. I buy the home and away shirt.

Dont get on your high horse. Just because you happen to live local and can get to your teams games doesnt make you a better fan than me. Swindon are well shit so getting tickets isnt difficult. Have you ever tried to get tickets for Manchester United/Chelsea/Arsenal/Liverpool/Spurs. I'm part of the bronze super dulex armchair fan members club. I apply every game but the tickets never get as far as me.

It is amusing how many Manure fans roll off a load of spiel about family ties and shit. They normally mention a few players from generations ago just to make it seem like they're not lying, or have proof of their rite.

To be honest I have a fair few friends that I go to football with that have a 'Prem team'. I'm ashamed to say my own son has a Man U duvet - thanks grandma.

I forgive them for it. They fully admit their Prem team is in reality just a TV team. And we've all stood together cheering our heads off at places like Aldershot after winning a JPT game on pens.

My old flatmate is a Liverpool fan. I sorted out tickets last season so he could watch them for the first time (he was 25). It wasn't a great game 1-0 win for them at Sunderland, Torres scored a decent goal.

I'd have been content with that but he moaned all the way home. I decided I wouldn't go out of my way to get tickets the next time they were in the region....

Newcastle United 1-5 Liverpool - He didn't even consider getting tickets and gleefully followed it with Jeff Stelling and Co.

Ive got back in contact recently with 2 old friends via facebook and found they are now man u supporters.  15 years ago they had absolutely no bloody interest in football whatsoever and found my interest in it very strange.  One of them I was in a band with and we played a pub in chippenham the night of the semi final of the wc 90.  He had so little interest in the football that he thought it was all very funny and we went on stage after the footy had finished with him saying 'guten haben englander scum!'  Thats how much idea he had about football and how people can get passionate about it.

We would have been lyched had there been more than 7 people there.

I haven't posted in I don't know how long (I just haven't had anything to say - 'when did you ever?' I hear you say)

But I have to say, that is a work of genius.

I wouldnt mind, but top flight football is increasingly being run, not for the fans who are in the stands, but the ones who watch on TV. Its decreased the importance of the real fans in the grounds. Football being run by idiots, for idiots.

Which is one of the reasons why the Glazers, the Gillettes, the Hicks etc can get away with what they do, because the armchair "fans" don't know and don't care about how they treat proper fans. So when proper fans try to raise the issues that are affecting actual fans who go to games, they get ignored because they're drowned out by morons on radio phone-ins who've never been near a game in their lives ("Hi Alan, it's Colin from Gloucester I'm a Liverpool fan and I think....")

Because there's nothing to stop it. Perfectly legal business practice and according to Scudamore, there is no problem with debt in the Premier League so the football authorities don't need to do anything about it either. So it's all OK

If I get through the first caller on a football radio show then Ive done well. I cant listen to them and its been that way for 10 years.

Every now and then there will be one that makes me so angry Il have to listen. Like when McDons won the JPT and spoony (host, Liverpool fan who grew up 4 miles from Wimbledon) didnt know what had happened to allow the creation of McDons, why it was important, why it was destested.

I tried to get on that day. But I think the researchers (great degree, great job, well done) only let on the safest callers. Honestly, football phone ins used to be worth listening to.

I listened to Spoony once on 606 (never again), it may have been the same time - an AFC wimbledon fan phoned in and refered to MK as 'Franchise', he asked 'what's all that about'!!!  Fucking idiot. Typical London based Liverpool fan, doesn't know anything beyond the top six 

I listen to the 6-0-6 podcasts because of my commute and I like listening to the fans that are clearly mental.

'Spoony' is really, really poor - it's a relief when he's off doing some charity golf event somewhere.

I think the main problem with Spoony is that the Beeb somehow confused a person who knows quite a few footballers with someone who knows anything about football. There is, as he repeatedly demonstrates, a big difference

Because they have a billion pound in assets so effectively they are still solvent. Perfectly legal. If debt was called in they could easily pay it with their assets and have money left over.

But they wouldn't have a stadium, players, manager etc left.

Why not? Even after all the debt was paid off they would still have £200M (1Bill - 700M- say 100m Interest) left for players, play at a stadium etc. so... thats why it is legal. Love it or hate it, its perfectly legal and thats how they get away with it, whilst Pompey for example may have stupid debts but do not have assets to cover them hence why they head into administration. Also part of the reason we would head into liquidation as we had no assetts and were (and still are) hemoraging money but atleast we have people who wil make up the short fall for now.

Their hedge fund debt is running at something north of 15%. It's like buying a house you can't afford and putting a chunk of it on credit cards.

All going to end in tears.

If BT and others manage to squeeze some money out of Sky, total income to the Prem will decline. This could be like ITV Digital x 100.

If/When Ferguson retires, I can easily see them spending (by their standards) five years in the wilderness - not challenging for the title and only scraping the top 4.

Best case, they're like Liverpool after Dalglish - drifting around as the 'best of the rest' after a decade of dominance.
Worst case, they're Leeds.
