It won't happen, it's almost certainly one nutcase in his bedroom telling the Daily Mail he'll do it to get a bit of publicity. Which worked, spectacularly.

If it does happen, it'll no doubt attract a bunch of far right idiots as well, so perhaps we could just seal off Wootton Basset for the day and nuke it.

Quite. Because both sets of bigots (Mail and religious fanatics) both play to each others' agendas. They're like some kind of horrible symbiosis

If they come here they will die here.

I don't think anyone's saying they don't care about it. My reaction on reading about this this morning was the same as I imagine everyone else's - revulsion and anger. But as Nemo says, we're being played here - by a couple of nutjob extremists who want to stir up shit and the Mail who sourced this interview who are more than happy to give them publicity because it furthers their agenda. If this march does go ahead, I'd be more than happy to join any counter demonstration so long as it is organised by local people and/or forces' families not the fucking BNP/EDL or any of the other fascist bandwagon jumpers who are just the other side of the same coin as these al-Muhajiroun scrotes. Throw the fucking lot in a lime pit and chuck grenades in, just leave the quiet dignity of the remembrance of the forces dead and wounded out of it.

What fucking middle ground? I don't want to see Wootton Bassett hijacked and despoiled by either Muslim nutjobs abusing it to make their political points or far right nutjobs abusing it to make theirs. That's not "middle ground", that's saying fuck off to the lot of them. Hopefully though the coppers will for once exercise a modicum of common sense for once and tell the publicity whores of whatever stripe to do one.

Thats just bollocks Spencer.

People are looking to provoke a reaction and people like you play into their hands.

Just let the (probably) few Islamist extremists go to Wootton Bassett - the police can deal with it and they will get minimum publicity.

It will be far more upsetting for the families of the dead to have a load of beered up skin-heads coming tooled up for a scrap.

You calling me far right? Dont think so pal.

If they come to Bassett they can die in Bassett.

The families of the dead soldiers take great comfort from the fact they return to a part of the country that is British, and a part of the country that properly mourns their loss.

Lines are drawn. With us or against us. Deeper than football.

You calling me far right? Dont think so pal.
No. Not at all. I was suggesting that the spectacle of a counter-demo led or infiltrated by far-right nutjobs would be just as harmful and disrepectful to the ordinary decent families of dead and injured servicemen as would a few Muslim nutjobs looking to stoke up trouble in the first place. If this is a serious proposal, and not just an attempt to seek cheap publicity which the Mail are lapping up because it suits their ends as much as the nutjobs, then the correct way to deal with it in the first instance is to lobby the coppers to say they must not allow any such demonstration in Bassett. If for some insane reason the coppers bottle it, then yes there should and must be a counter demonstration but it must not be led or dominated by the far right. Because nutjobs of any flavour with their own agenda to push, be they Muslims, BNP, EDL, the Daily Mail or whatever the fuck have no place in the dignified remberance of servicemen who have given their limbs and lives in the service of our country.

Oh fuck off Spence. Doesn't take a genius to work out the BNP/EDL/one of their other front groups would be all over this like a rash if it actually got anywhere does it? And making political capital out of being the ones who "stood up for our boys" or however they dressed it up. And how many services families would actually feel that that bunch of fucking low-lifes actually represented what their loved ones fought and died for? Not in my name, indeed. If you're really interested in stopping these scrotes making a mockery of the fine, dignified tradition that WB stands for, then read a bit further in the BBC piece and get out your pen, not your sword.

Quote
A spokeswoman for Wiltshire Police said: "Under the Public Order Act the organiser must inform the police of the date, time and route of the proposed procession, and the name and address of the organiser.

"If the march or procession is believed to be likely to result in serious disorder, disruption or damage, then the police can impose conditions upon the organiser.

"In exceptional circumstances, police may apply to the local authority for an order prohibiting such a march."

To date there had been no contact from Islam4UK or any other group wishing to arrange such a march in Wootton Bassett," the spokeswoman added.

So, let's see - half-dozen Muslim nutjobs issue press release/website statement saying they're thinking of doing something outrageous. Mail prints it cos they love a good Muslim nutjob story, specially if they can run it as "Muslims say" rather than "Known nutjobs say". But in fact, these guys haven't even got to base 1 of organising a demo, ie contacting the coppers who make it pretty fucking clear that their line is pretty much "Over my dead body". But if the nutjobs can stir enough outrage around it, they can very publicly get their march which was never going to happen (unless a dozen saddos with beards shouting in the corner of a small market town counts) banned. Then it becomes a big freedom of speech issue etc etc. Or even better, thanks to the outraged backlash it provokes, the whole thing does become a "freedom of speech" issue, so they end getting a march they never actually intended to hold, and a big fucking scrap to boot. So the Muslim nutjobs get to play "standing up for our side" to their audience of disaffected nutjob Muslim youth, the rightwing nutjobs get to play "standing up for our side" to their audience of disaffected nutjob white youth and everyone else is a loser. Especially the families of servicemen who did NOT give their lives in the name of this kind of shit and deserve better.

We should do what the Yanks did  to the students who had the temerity to disagree with the Vietnam War and chose to use their democratic right to protest against it at Kent State University. They sent in the National  Guard who opened fire and killed some of the unpatriotic bastards.

Are there some parallels with the rumoured anti war Wotton Basset demo and some peoples' reaction to it?

No, there is no parallel whatsoever. The Kent State massacre was against a group of peaceful protesters protesting against war whilst these rag-head nut jobs have an agenda which is motivated entirely by religious fervour and a wish to provoke a reaction.

And Spencer, I really do believe that you are away with the fairies "You are with us or against us", what the fuck is all that about.

In actual fact the Islamic extremists are more right wing than the BNP !

The sort of law they want is more extreme than the situation in Iran. Where a 15 yr old girl raped by her uncle is hung for having sex before marriage.

As far as I'm concerned any extremist is dangerous even if they disguise them selves by wrapping them selves in a flag, a religion, or a political belief.

What's the difference between the real IRA, & Islamic extremists, Hitler or Stalin, (the ultra right or the ultra left). None..........  they are all self interested murdering scum.

The great thing about this country is that EVERYONE can have an opinion..past history has shown that the majority tend to have the say on how history turns out...did you know that during WW2 there was an estimated 250,000 fascists in Britain who were not allowed a voice..quite rightly so.
As Pauld says this march wont be allowed to happen the reason being the police wouldnt allow it...the media in this country have alot to answer for in stoking up trouble so they can create a them and us scenario between religions..it sells papers, its been the same through all the conflicts of recent warfare......not being Glib Sie but all wars are pointless to the men and woman in the world who just want to live in peace....i agree the war in Afghanistan is more pointless though...it cant ever be won without wiping the identity of a whole nation of the face of our earth....its so sad that so many Soldiers are dying...and sad also that the poor Afghan men woman and children are being killed and maimed...and they probably havnt a clue why.

Its quite clear that British involvement in Afganistan has fuelled Islamic extremism in this country.

But thats not the biggest factor in the rise of islamic extremism. Its the oil money from Saudi Arabia. Islamic extremism will continue to rise as they make more oil profits, before it runs out and the whole of the middle east returns to being penniless, dark ages backwater 50 years after the oil money has run out.

If it wasn't for the war in Afghanistan..... then it would be something else.

All over the world the extremists are fighting 'the infidel' over one thing or another. Literally thousands have died, mostly civilians, in the south of Thailand because they want that part of Thailand to be an islamic state. They even go about deliberately killing monks and school teachers for 'spreading the word of evil', which constitutes just about anything that is not pro-muslim.

The sad thing is that they seem to do next to nothing to police themselves. You may get the ocassional individual or small group having a word but asides from that the rest of them act as though it is not their problem.

All organised religion should be outlawed for the monumental and destructive scam that it is.

Banning Islamic march in Wootton Bassett could backfire says senior policeman

Banning a march through Wootton Bassett by members of a hard-line Islamic group could further inflame tensions, a senior police officer has said.

Sir Hugh Orde, president of the Association of Chief Police Officers (Acpo), said he would be "surprised" if senior officers in Wiltshire block the protest.

Copper bloke: Well we can't really stop you as it is your right in the same way that we can't stop the BNP and EPL from attending either, that OK with you?

Muzzer: Errrr, errrm, yeah. Allah Akbar

Copper bloke: Oh, and I see that your are requesting protection as well. Well it is our job to do so and so of course we will offer protection, however there will be a lot of pissed off people and so we will just have to errrm, do the best we can, OK?

Muzzer: Errrm, uh, uhm. Allah Akbar....... Actually, can we have a chat.

They bottled their last one in London, and their only opposition that day was secular Muslims.

Id rather they did ban it though. Because all the media attention may make Bassett a terrorist target.

Still it will be bloody usefull if they bring those coffins. Every limb can have its own coffin.

Just as bad, but not worse.

Anyway. The mods one the facebook group reckon that it is just a rumour.

Just been up through the town and there were groups of 'thugs' dotted around the town, seemingly there to 'kick off'....Bless 'em.
This Islam group is gettin exactly what they wanted, and that's attention/publicity....There was never goin to be a march today....Nor do i think there will be one.

It was probably their last chance to have a march today for a long while. The government will probably label them a terrorist organisation early next week, which will disband them.

Yes the Islam group is getting attention and publicity it wanted but it has lost all credibility as a pressure group because it is unable to actually achieve what it set out to do.

It also has caused a fucking huge amount of animosity towards Islam & Muslims in general from people who normally wouldnt give a shit and has got them no sympathy at all from anyone.

They have shot themselves in the foot if they wanted to gain any public support/sympathy.

Yep indeed. Even the Turkish owners of Oscar's Grill Kebab shop in the town are gettin grief from a select few that were about today, purely because they're not British....This is gettin waaay too outta hand

They didnt have much credibility to begin with. Their best chance of actually getting to Bassett was to do it on the quiet and take a few photo's. If they had announced a date there is no way they would be able to have got anywhere near the place.

People like Anjem Choudary dont want sympathy. He is a former recruiter for Osama Bin Laden, he is an extremist of the highest order, he wants to destabilise social cohesion in the UK.

Spot on Spencer. As I've said all along, he and his grouplet are as bad as the BNP/EDL and struck from the same coin. They only want to inflame tension at the cost of ordinary people of all faiths/races.

Anyway, having succeeded in that aim and publicising his nasty little face everywhere, he's now pulled out. March is cancelled. Not that it was ever likely to happen. Wankers

Perhaps if we bring a law in to stop benefits for men who wear silly hats and dresses and have outrageous bushy beards they might get the message.

Each time they reform they have to dumb down what they are saying.

Hopefully the Yanks will want to try Choudary for something, because if they want him then he will be extradited. If you look at Bakri, and Abu Hamza before him, they are slowly knocking their leaders off.
