Title: Some words from Andrew Black Post by: michael on Thursday, December 10, 2009, 18:18:44 Bert has finally updated his blog again
http://www.bertsblog.co.uk/horse-racing/bloggers-cramp.html I was starting to worry about him. Anyway he had this to say about our great club: One high point is Swindon, who finally seem to be getting it together now. I’ve spent a lot of time recently in Swindon board and strategy meetings, and they haven’t been easy. The finances and politics of the club were extremely messy and it’s taken a lot of time and money to put things right - the CEO and chairman deserve a lot of credit for the work they’ve put in. It’s starting to come right on the pitch - we need to get the attendances up now, which is not easy, but they’re going slowly our way. A lot is said about Andy Fitton but less about Nicholas Watkins. The man is an absolute treasure. Title: Re: Some words from Andrew Black Post by: The Grim Reaper on Thursday, December 10, 2009, 18:37:56 No need to worry about the attendances. They will rise if we can continue the good form on the pitch.
Title: Re: Some words from Andrew Black Post by: Summerof69 on Thursday, December 10, 2009, 19:54:19 Fully agree. If we can keep in the top 6, attendances will definately rise. A successful side always get better crowds.
Title: Re: Some words from Andrew Black Post by: Spencer_White on Thursday, December 10, 2009, 20:16:01 When you tell people about Charlie Austin, a local lad who was a builder, born in Swindon, lots of mates who support Swindon, I think any person actually interested in football (as in football, not the Premiership) takes a step back and says that is fantastic.
If he can keep scoring then I think it will capture the imagination of the Town. Especially if we look in with a shout of promotion. This always was Fittons dream, to have young local players in the team and re-engage the locals. Title: Re: Some words from Andrew Black Post by: DV on Thursday, December 10, 2009, 20:28:50 You could be right.
I've got people at work, who 'support' a Premiership team and dont really care for lower leagues asking me about him. He's certainly generating interest. I just hope we get more punters through the door and all those who got a cheap season ticket last season and fucked off this season feel like right fucking idiots, esp angry shouty man. what a cunt. Title: Re: Some words from Andrew Black Post by: leefer on Thursday, December 10, 2009, 20:29:48 A friend of mine is the biggest whinger at footy i know...hes old school and only recently started watching the Town again....Austen has changed all that, the spark is back.
Title: Re: Some words from Andrew Black Post by: nochee on Thursday, December 10, 2009, 21:02:18 Austin is certainly the cream topping that weve needed for for a while now, but the progress of the whole team has turned quite a few heads this season. People are starting to take note of us as we are pulling out some good results and sitting above everyones expectations. Lets hope the attendances do start to rise as the points roll in.

And because of that very reason Austin has the potential to become a Town legend if his stay is that of more than a few years. Didnt care much for football in them days. I remember standing in the town end a few years back and everyone wearing funny orange hats (i think they were orange?) I had to ask what its was all about at the time as i had no idea. Title: Re: Some words from Andrew Black Post by: Talk Talk on Thursday, December 10, 2009, 21:59:34 Ranting about some fucking rubbish tip, IIRC :) I seem to remember a Trust meeting where STFC where so close to winning the play offs where you happily voted for Shaw Forest to get redeveloped. So no, my involvement with the club and my support has only been since then. So yes, I have only been subjected to shit as my time as a fan :D Title: Re: Some words from Andrew Black Post by: pauld on Thursday, December 10, 2009, 22:02:21 I seem to remember a Trust meeting where STFC where so close to winning the play offs where you happily voted for Shaw Forest to get redeveloped. Title: Re: Some words from Andrew Black Post by: donkey on Thursday, December 10, 2009, 22:17:49 I objected to every proposal the old bopard put forward at the last (or last but one) AGM. I got evils from Sandy Gray...it's like being shouted at by John Lowe.

Title: Re: Some words from Andrew Black Post by: flammableBen on Thursday, December 10, 2009, 23:25:37 I think that was him.
I used to quite often wander in to town with him post-County/Merlin. It often involved us drinking more in the Savoy. He was great fun. Title: Re: Some words from Andrew Black Post by: Simon Pieman on Thursday, December 10, 2009, 23:45:28 The last time I saw Millom he'd left the army and was seeking alternative employment. It was about 2 and a half years ago

Title: Re: Some words from Andrew Black Post by: TheDukeOfBanbury on Friday, December 11, 2009, 23:12:36 Every season I bring down to the CG a Chelsea and Sunderland Supporter for one game. They came away from the Orient game with lots of praise for Swindon and thought the style of football was the best they have witnessed.
Like every loyal fan I would love to see a packed and vocal TE, sadly the missing link from the good old days. Title: Re: Some words from Andrew Black Post by: leefer on Friday, December 11, 2009, 23:19:53 You said it...the good old days ....when they return...so will the packed and vocal Townend.....
