Title: Manchester United 4-3 Manchester City
Post by: Rich Pullen on Sunday, September 20, 2009, 14:41:58
I enjoyed that. The home side should've won more comprehensively but Manchester City still came back despite being quite poor.

A thoroughly entertaining derby though.

I'd love to be in the Premier League. I'm not a fan of the media presentation of the PL but the football on show today was good entertainment.

that was a good game. thought giggs really rolled back the years today, he was awesome. all those millions and millions of pounds worth of superstars and 35 year old Giggs out shines them all.

nice to see bellamy doing well, last few years his off field stuff and personality has been talked about more than his actual football. always been a decent player in there somewhere.

no doubt the 6 minutes of the 4 minutes added on will get bought up and the usual Manchester United favoured by refs bollocks will come up but Bellamy scored pretty much dead on 90 and spent at least a minute celebrating for starters!

Typical Manure fluking a last minute win. Can't stand the plastic cunts.

Was it a fluke? I'm all for a bit bemoning but they dominated that 2nd half and didn't settle for the draw, therefore deserving the win.

Still hate the cunts though. Well it may not have been a fluke (didn't see it) but apparently there should have only been 4 mins injury time and not 6. Typical ref giving Manure the advantage at OT. I'd be fuming if I was a City fan.

The 6 minutes will be the discussion point of the week - as mentioned I suppose it was down to the Bellamy celebrations.

Man City were poor but still managed 3 goals at Old Trafford, they'll be up there throughout.

I hope so. As long as United or Chelski don't win the league i'll be happy.

Good to see Owen scoring, shows that he's still got it - hopefully he'll get more chances to play. I still reckon we need Owen back on form if we're going to stand a chance at the World Cup next year.

Classic finish by Michael Owen, from a wonderful pass by Ryan Giggs.Bellamy's first was spectacular.
Ben Foster still has a lot to learn, if he's going to become a really top keeper.

I'd say the chance of it not being one of those two is slim at best

Regarding the injury time, when they put the board up it's for a MINIMUM number of minutes, and it's up to the referee how much he adds. The ref probably added extra tme for Bellamy's celebration in the last minute plus extra time for the Man Yoo substitution in injury time.

I still think Man City will get in the top four this season, and it'll be interesting to see who misses out...

I think it will be Spurs who miss out.

Getting on for 50 years of hurt now.

But in those ghastly 50 years of "hurt" they've won 5 F.A. Cups, 4 League Cups and 2 UEFA cups.

Needless to say, my heart bleeds for them :)

OK, I'm taking this thread slightly off topic...but Man U appears in the title so I think it gives me enough of an excuse to post this.

If anyone has any Sunday night blues, just watch the Stratton Bank going mental after Fjortoft's equaliser (approx 6:50).  A beautiful sight.  I was there.

Due to the lack of World Cup quality forwards available for selection at this moment means that the door cannot be fully closed for Owen.

Owen's finish was composed and well executed but he's got a lot to do to change Fabio Capello's mind.

If Owen gets more minutes (and goals) in the United team then I don't see why Capello can't put him in the squad for the final two qualifying games.

After seeing that it reminds me of how great Luc Nijholt was offering keane out for a fight! oh and that person that punch hughes in the head!

Imagine if the Mark Hughes incident happened now, there would be anarchy. Cantona overshadowed that. I was young but I can't remember any punishment.

After seeing that it reminds me of how great Luc Nijholt was offering keane out for a fight! oh and that person that punch hughes in the head!

I wondered if it was Nijholt  that keane was talking about when he wrote in his autobiogrphy:

Quote
He is exasperated by the "part-time hardmen" who have tried to take Manchester United down a peg:

"Why the fuck didn't they put the effort in every week, then maybe they wouldn't be playing for fucking Norwich or Swindon."

Of course Nijholt was like that every week :) Hence why he is one of my all time favourite Town players.

Never read it, just had that quoted at me when Town put in a lackluster performance against a lesser team after playing well against the bigger teams.

I was very close by when Hughes got punched. Fair play to Hughes he didn't flinch and was well game. I don't think they make them like than nowadays.
As for Nijholt v Keane, I think Nijholts blackbelt would make him favourite.

I haven't read this thread or seen the game, but I bet DV has jizzed all over his poster of Scholes or Giggs (if they haven't both retired yet). It's what he does in every manu thread. Glory supporting cunt.

i thought the board said 5 mins of added on time?

Even so, subs/goal celebrations all add up.

thought it was a very good game. Giggs was outstanding second half. and i think fletcher needs to bring his arms back forward and up slightly before he masters the Jan Agga plane celebration

They added all the stoppages up on MOTD2 last night and it came to 5 minutes, 26 seconds. Owen scored on 5 minutes, 27 seconds. Hughes will be fuming about where the ref found that extra second from.
