Title: Adver News: It's D-Day for Cherno Post by: News Monkey on Saturday, July 18, 2009, 11:00:19 It's D-Day for Cherno
DANNY Wilson will decide on the fate of triallist Cherno Samba over the weekend, as Town’s pre-season tour comes to a close. http://www.thisisswindontownfc.co.uk/news/headlines/4500227.It_s_D_Day_for_Cherno/?ref=rss Title: Re: Adver News: It's D-Day for Cherno Post by: Bob's Orange on Saturday, July 18, 2009, 11:05:30 I don't think we'll sign him unless its on a short term deal a la Razak last season.
We really need to sign a couple of strikers soon though, we are now getting to Pre-season territory and it would be good to get them in this week so we aren't scrabbling around with desperation signings as we run out of time. Title: Re: Adver News: It's D-Day for Cherno Post by: herthab on Saturday, July 18, 2009, 12:32:09 Bye bye Samba
Title: Re: Adver News: It's D-Day for Cherno Post by: leefer on Saturday, July 18, 2009, 12:46:49 Think we will sign him as cover...
Title: Re: Adver News: It's D-Day for Cherno Post by: DV on Saturday, July 18, 2009, 13:01:50 Its time like now I wonder why we released Corr, Sturrock, Joyce and Razak.
I'd probably perfer most of those upfront to Samba or Peacock. Title: Re: Adver News: It's D-Day for Cherno Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Saturday, July 18, 2009, 13:06:34 I agree Dv. This is where i reckon wilson has put all his eggs in 1 basket and not expected to be turned down like he has. On a seperate note i would try for that Bauza at Swansea
Title: Re: Adver News: It's D-Day for Cherno Post by: DV on Saturday, July 18, 2009, 13:25:09 He looked decent in that reserve game we watched. Of course Razak scored a hat trick in that game.
I know Corr was a fitness issuse but right now I wish we'd kept Corr and Razak maybe even Sturrock to!!!! Our forward like is obviously looking weaker but none of the strikers (striker?!) we are looking at is the ideal partner for Paynter. Title: Re: Adver News: It's D-Day for Cherno Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Saturday, July 18, 2009, 13:30:17 Maybe 1 upfront it is then.
Title: Re: Adver News: It's D-Day for Cherno Post by: Spencer_White on Saturday, July 18, 2009, 13:34:15 Obviously Id like to see Samba for myself before I slag him off. But I cant see the bloke starting.
Weve set fantastic high standards with all the other players we have bought in. We said we wanted a small squad? Worst comes to it we will have to get into the loan market. We dont need more squad fillers, even strikers. Title: Re: Adver News: It's D-Day for Cherno Post by: Spencer_White on Saturday, July 18, 2009, 13:35:32 Obviously wish we had kept Big Bazz as well. :(
Title: Re: Adver News: It's D-Day for Cherno Post by: Reg Smeeton on Saturday, July 18, 2009, 13:37:46 I do get the feeling that Wilson may expect to see Paynter step up and be more prolific, maybe play with one up and 2 wide.
Paynter is now of teh rightsort of age and experience to kick on and become a 20 goal man. Title: Re: Adver News: It's D-Day for Cherno Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Saturday, July 18, 2009, 13:40:20 Yep i would agree with that Reg.
Title: Re: Adver News: It's D-Day for Cherno Post by: leefer on Saturday, July 18, 2009, 13:46:07 Think Joyce will score for fun for Torquay...its bvious DW wants speed in the striker he plays up with Paynter....they dont come cheap but feel Fitton may have to dig deep and go for someone pricey.
Title: Re: Adver News: It's D-Day for Cherno Post by: Reg Smeeton on Saturday, July 18, 2009, 13:46:31 Yep i would agree with that Reg. That's a rarity :) Title: Re: Adver News: It's D-Day for Cherno Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Saturday, July 18, 2009, 13:48:36 Haha i should of put it in bold.
Title: Re: Adver News: It's D-Day for Cherno Post by: Spencer_White on Saturday, July 18, 2009, 13:54:54 Think Joyce will score for fun for Torquay...its bvious DW wants speed in the striker he plays up with Paynter....they dont come cheap but feel Fitton may have to dig deep and go for someone pricey. Young strikers like him may well have to drop down to find their feet and establish themselves. Then they can start to move back up the league again. We had to let the boy go. Any player who is (rightly) subbed 20 minutes after his first start will probably not recover at that club. So many young English players now go from being on the books of Premier League clubs to the scrapheap. Agree that this is the time to start thinking about paying a fee for a striker. Title: Re: Adver News: It's D-Day for Cherno Post by: pauld on Saturday, July 18, 2009, 14:07:09 Yep i would agree with that Reg. So would I, but the question is can he take the step up mentally as much as anything else from being a foil to someone else, to being a main striker?Title: Re: Adver News: It's D-Day for Cherno Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Saturday, July 18, 2009, 14:10:58 He needs competition that was proved when we bought Razak in.
Title: Re: Adver News: It's D-Day for Cherno Post by: Rich Pullen on Saturday, July 18, 2009, 14:19:54 Surley they'll keep him around until they've got some guarenteed players coming in? It's a busy week so another run-out or two could go his way.
Title: Re: Adver News: It's D-Day for Cherno Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Saturday, July 18, 2009, 14:24:36 It would make sense to do that Rich but if he hasn't impressed in 2 wks they may not see the point
Title: Re: Adver News: It's D-Day for Cherno Post by: Rich Pullen on Saturday, July 18, 2009, 14:27:59 True. I imagine they'll have people lined up even if it's only trialists.
Title: Re: Adver News: It's D-Day for Cherno Post by: alanmayes on Saturday, July 18, 2009, 14:36:07 Swansea want to cut the size of their squad,so maybe there are strikers now available?
Reports today that Saints are having talks with Lita. Title: Re: Adver News: It's D-Day for Cherno Post by: Nemo on Saturday, July 18, 2009, 14:40:18 The Chap who just bought them is absolutely minted, no?
Title: Re: Adver News: It's D-Day for Cherno Post by: alanmayes on Saturday, July 18, 2009, 14:52:14 There will be loads of speculation about Saints and new players.Lita was on loan to Charlton
when Pardew was in charge, whether he'll want League 1 football, will probably depend on the offers he's already had. Title: Re: Adver News: It's D-Day for Cherno Post by: reeves4england on Saturday, July 18, 2009, 14:52:33 The Chap who just bought them is absolutely minted, no? Ah, so is he planning to start chucking money at them to get back to the Championship now then? (Sorry, I've been away so am a bit behind!)Title: Re: Adver News: It's D-Day for Cherno Post by: yeo on Saturday, July 18, 2009, 15:31:58 Plenty of time to find better,if we sign him its just making up the numbers and I thought we wern't supposed to be doing that anymore.
Although I dont know him from Adam so what I just said is bollocks really. 8) Title: Re: Adver News: It's D-Day for Cherno Post by: Spencer_White on Saturday, July 18, 2009, 15:52:45 That would be good if Lita were to go to Southampton. It would mean we definately cant sign the tosser.
