Title: Re: Rose Post by: Peter Venkman on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, 08:42:01 Was thought of quite highly at Man Utd when he started his career, they loved him at Yeovil and rated him very highly and were upset to lose him to Stockport.
Got 1 England amateur International cap while at Hereford. Is also a dead ball specialist, scores a few from free kicks and scored against Rovers direct from a corner too. Title: Re: Rose Post by: SwindonTartanArmy on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, 08:53:24 Was thought of quite highly at Man Utd when he started his career, they loved him at Yeovil and rated him very highly and were upset to lose him to Stockport. Is that in the same way that Andy Gurney was a dead ball specialist? Got 1 England amateur International cap while at Hereford. Is also a dead ball specialist, scores a few from free kicks and scored against Rovers direct from a corner too. Title: Re: Rose Post by: Reg Smeeton on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, 09:35:40 Never heard of him until this morning, is he meant to be any good? Judging by the noises coming out of the CG, it looks like we'll sign 4 new players, maybe this fella, a GK, a striker to replace Cox...perhaps Robinson, and a centrocampista. What we've got signed up already will then be it. Optimism anyone? Title: Re: Rose Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, 09:59:10 Can you let us enjoy pre season before you start posting your repetetive negative bollocks
Title: Re: Rose Post by: reeves4england on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, 10:16:53 Decent goalkeeper
Aljofree Greer Morrison McNamee Easton Decent new midfielder Timlin McGovern Paynter Decent new striker With Rose to fit into there somewhere, it doesn't look all that bad a line up. Not saying it's one that would win the league but anybody who's expecting that kind of turn around over 1 summer is off their head. It'd potentially be a solid team up and around the mid-table to play-offs area Title: Re: Rose Post by: Melksham Red on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, 10:57:38 wow, I can't contain my excitement. Reg is right, we're not exactly going to set the world alight are we?

Title: Re: Rose Post by: yeo on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, 11:05:26 DRS = Happy Clapper
whats so wrong with being realisticly despondant anyway? Title: Re: Rose Post by: Panda Paws on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, 11:05:48 Struggling to match the wage demands of a Stockport player, its not good news really is it. Refusing to match the wages of players from a club that are now fucked because they spent far too much, seems like good news to me Title: Re: Rose Post by: Fred Elliot on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, 11:06:48 Struggling to match the wage demands of a Stockport player, its not good news really is it. Is this the same Stockport who are in administration because they are skint ??? There is a moral to the story there me thinks Title: Re: Rose Post by: Simon Pieman on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, 11:08:53 Michael Rose we got him good
Guess we knew we always would We can’t stop to mess around We got Michael Rose in town Title: Re: Rose Post by: yeo on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, 11:09:53 Well if they are skint they probably haven't been offering big wages then have they? Unless they became skint over night because of the massive wages they were paying thier full back...
Title: Re: Rose Post by: alanmayes on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, 11:11:20 Struggling to match the wage demands of a Stockport player, its not good news really is it. This usually happens when the player or his agent knows that there are other clubs interested. It's my understanding that Huddersfield and the Poolies have been watching him, whether they follow that up who knows? Title: Re: Rose Post by: Batch on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, 11:11:46 Decent goalkeeper Aljofree Greer Morrison McNamee Easton Decent new midfielder Timlin McGovern Paynter Decent new striker With Rose to fit into there somewhere, it doesn't look all that bad a line up. Looks like a very similar line up to last season. Too similar in fact. Other than that I'll reserve judgement until we see who actually comes in before lording our praises our writing us off.. Title: Re: Rose Post by: Simon Pieman on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, 11:12:58 I read it that he's on a fair amount at Stockport and will want that from a new club. He'll be gone it's just a case of if we can match the wages offered by another club, not Stockport.
Title: Re: Rose Post by: Samdy Gray on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, 11:13:40 We'll probably see more movement once players contracts are up next Monday.
Title: Re: Rose Post by: Melksham Red on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, 11:18:11 Dont fucking watch them then. 3 weeks since end of last season and you are moaning about next season already. Oh, i'm fucking sorry. I didn't realise being realistic was so offensive. Yes, we're gunna win the fucking league by a record number of points, by scoring the most goals and letting fuck all in with that squad. I can't fucking wait, what a season it's going to be. Better. Well, at least wait until we've actually made some signings before spouting off about our chances next season. Title: Re: Rose Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, 11:33:59 Sam said it better
Title: Re: Rose Post by: Melksham Red on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, 11:38:07 I can spout off all I like, thankyou. I'm just being realistic. Mid-table is my opinion. If you don't like it, fuck off.
Title: Re: Rose Post by: DV on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, 11:44:39 Yes, but an opinion based on half a squad that isnt complete none the less.
Title: Re: Rose Post by: Melksham Red on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, 11:53:19 Whatever, like a give a flying one about the opinion of a person who has made over 16000 posts on an internet forum.

Fine by me. But I think you're a bit of a fucking idiot to be making predictions like this when our starting 11 could be completely changed by the time August comes around. Title: Re: Rose Post by: Melksham Red on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, 11:57:49 Oh dear, never mind. If i'm wrong then i'm wrong.

Title: Re: Rose Post by: Luci on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, 12:04:46 I see handbags are out in full force today!
Title: Re: Rose Post by: Arch Stanton on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, 12:10:52 I own a satchel, does that count?
I've read many a post recently saying things like 'we'll be bringing in only 4 new players in the summer' (or similar) Have there been any actual quotes from people that matter to confirm this - Fitton, Wilson, Watkins? This is an honest question and not a dig - as I can't remember who has said what - and people seem to be hanging on to this as gospel. Title: Re: Rose Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, 12:12:48 Fuck off luci
Title: Re: Rose Post by: Mexicano Rojo on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, 12:16:05 swindon town aggro :)
Title: Re: Rose Post by: Luci on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, 12:17:30 I own a satchel, does that count? I suppose it will have to do :D Title: Re: Rose Post by: Simon Pieman on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, 12:33:41 I reckon my handbag is better than anyone else's.
Title: Re: Rose Post by: RobertT on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, 12:39:18 I agree with Melksham, we may well be kicking around the middle of the table with the guys we have currently plus a couple of extras. Melksham takes this as being a bad thing, but I think it will be a better season than the last 2 were generally. Healthy mid table is ok for me next season, at worst it gives a posibility of play offs for a good 30+ games of the season and come the January window their might be an opportunity to rethink.
I wonder if Huddersfield can sustain spending what they did in January every transfer window without success? I remember a few people holding them up as an example of what we should be doing (splashing cash) in January after they got a couple of wins. As I remember it, they never really looked likely to feature in the play offs though. Title: Re: Rose Post by: Simon Pieman on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, 12:42:29 I remember thinking that towards the end of last season Rob. Pilkington has undoubted quality for this division but he has less assists than McNamee too. I think Huddersfield were over-hyped last season but can see them doing well next term.
What sort of handbag do you have? Title: Re: Rose Post by: Simon Pieman on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, 12:51:56 So what becomes of you Mike Rose?
When they've finally stripped you of The handbags and the gladrags That your poor old Grandad had to sweat to buy you Title: Re: Rose Post by: Arch Stanton on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, 12:56:49 I suppose it will have to do :D It has lots of sharp buckles that could do some serious damage.... The County Ground turnstile stewards check IN the bag for knives, but little do they realise that good old satch' is a deadly, deadly weapon in itself. Surely all the clotted blood in the strappings is a giveaway? Title: Re: Rose Post by: Power to people on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, 12:57:08 I can't really see how people can speculate on how we will do next season until they see the calibre of players we bring in for next season, I think from what I have heard there may be a surprise or 2 of the offing with players coming in we would not usually expect to attract.
Until players start to arrive then we don't really know the make up of the team, we may sign players that are viewed as really good and are the difference between mid table and play-off's - time will tell. Title: Re: Rose Post by: Melksham Red on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, 12:59:31 Thankyou for telling me what i'm thinking RobT. I actually don't think mid-table is a bad thing at all. Nor did I suggest we should try and buy our way to success like Huddersfield. Mid-table would be an improvement. It's just not going to be very exciting unless we can keep within touching distance of the play-offs. Which in my opinion is not much chance at all. I hope i'm proved wrong.
Title: Re: Rose Post by: Simon Pieman on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, 13:13:41 Has anyone else come up with some lyrics for our prospective new full back? Here's another for our future full back duo (note it may not be factually correct but it might make JFW do a little wee):
Rosie and Kev Rosie and Kev Crossing the ball every game Rosie and Kev Rosie and Kev And Paynter puts them in. Title: Re: Rose Post by: Bogus Dave on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, 13:19:46 I compare you

I put it to you that some clever bugger could make a decent little terrace chant with that fact in mind. Title: Re: Rose Post by: Nemo on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, 18:00:03 Mi-chael-Rose

It's just not going to be very exciting unless we can keep within touching distance of the play-offs. Which in my opinion is not much chance at all. I hope i'm proved wrong. Your last sentence gives away your thoughts though, it suggests it's bad news rather than good news. I remember 87/88 being pretty good despite mid table, and more recently 04/05 gave us half a season of fun. If we play like we did at the end of the season (any we should have a better swuad than that) and finish mid table, I'd suggest that won't be too bad on the eyes. In the last 25 years we've not really had too many proper mid table "seasons", we normally spend most of the season flirting with the bottom or in the play off/promotion places (the former being more likely). As it is, until we see the signings, we have not got a scooby what the 1st team will look like.
