I am going by the head-shots I can see on the BBC website.

To be honest with you #1 is easy.

What I am tryign to say here is that one of them migh be particularly voluptuous, which could boost her up the rankings very quickly.

The Apprentice always gets me excited, it's just a shame that they spend more time getting people who are going to make good tv, over those that are good at business. Although saying that, it wouldn't be Television if it was loads of people discussing good marketing practices and making all the tasks look simple.

Makes me laugh, as they are so dumb almost all of the time. Will be easy to spot the finalists after the first coupleof episodes, as i'm sure he has a certain set of criteria judging by the people from his companies i've met

Well up for this, best program on television, trashy reality TV but respectable as well. I've got my office sweepstake set up, so we must all be pulling for Majid to win.

Lets see if one of them comes up with the brilliant idea of turning a professional football club with a football ground into a non league club with a 3 sided stadium that wrap things up by X Mas every year. .

Seemed like more of a producer firing; keep the dark hair bitchy in one for better telly.

Classic scrappy first episode where you don't really know what the people are like yet. I'm looking forward to next weeks one though. I like the catering ones, their stupid errors tend to be more obvious.

I'm pretty sure you could say the same thing about the last few years. It's part of the fun of the Apprentice over something like Big Brother that they all have themselves bigged up over similar things, knock them all down at once.

Title: Re: The Apprentice...
Post by: Ardiles on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, 22:23:38
The biggest problem I have with the Apprentice is the candidates are, generally speaking, of low calibre.  Sralen would like us to believe that the cream of the cream are battling it out for a top job...but instead you find yourself thinking 'I could do better than that.'  Not really sure what the programme is trying to prove.

Entertaining though.  The team leader survived, it seems, because she was marginally less shit than the other girl.  I doubt she'll be there much longer.

Not really sure what the programme is trying to prove.

I don't think it's trying to be particularly profound, just another bit of trashy (but tolerable) entertainment really. In the first series I seem to remember some vaguely credible candidates, but since then they have really gone for the viewing figures, which is a shame really as I think it'd do almost as well with a higher calibre of contestants.

Thank god that hound is gone. Her face annoyed me immediately and she had nothing about her.

Best lines of the episode, "Oh, very feng shue", and "I'm the king of the world!" - cock.

The bloke on You're Fired! afterwards was ace. Comedian chap.

I feel for you fella, it's really difficult not switching your TV over to BBC1 at 9 o'clock on a Wednesday evening!!  Or not clicking on a thread which is titled with the name of the programme you're trying to avoid.

Good luck with that Bo!!

Yeah but it's not just avoiding the TV is it? It's rammed down your throat from all angles, radio etc - even on the news FFS.

OK, I know I can just not flip to BBC1 on Weds at 9, or bbc 2 at 10, or listen to radio 1 - ever 'til it's finished, and not read threads about it that appear in my "unread posts since lat visit" but I have to click into it to remove it from the list cos I am sad like that...Apart from that it's easy to avoid ;-)

Entertaining though.

You answered your own question!

We all know this is just TV, it's not about who is the best, it's about who is entertaining.  If they put all the best candidates in they'd all be competent and the program would be dull.

The team leaders are consistantly being fired for bringing the wrong people into the boardroom.

The second one of them bring Nooral back into the boardroom, he will be fired! Easily the worst candidate Ive ever seen on the show!

The thing is, they're beyond wannabes, they're clueless idiots in 90% of cases. When finding faces for the show, they clearly don't find the cream of English business talent, but the cream of the idiots who read about business on the back of a fag packet. The participants then spend time trying to complicate simplicity in an amusingly implausible manner all in the vain hope of making a few quid and eventually winning a job with Sir Alan.

I'd quite like to see Ben win still, a bit of a lairy fucker too but probably the most appropriate for an "apprentice" position. I reckon he'll win cos Sir Al "see's a bit of himself in him" to use a cliche.

Hear, hear.  I've been wondering for some time what the point of this series is when the key personality trait required for getting on the show in the first place seems to be mediocrity.

In other news, I'm quite sure I saw the chinless loon dynamic go-getter who delivered the best line in the series so far on a train out of Waterloo earlier this week.  ('How do I feel?!  I feel like I did when my cat died.'  Spoken like a true future captain of industry.)  I was tempted to offer my belated condolences.

Does lairy mean something different in Swindon? If someone says lairy fucker I think of the Dennis Pennis football fan sketch, not Ben the wet twat from the Apprentice.

Doubt Sir Alan sees much of himself in him, I think he'll go soon for completely bottling it when he was project manager in the last task - Narul saved him by being the shittest contestant since the whole show began.

Kate is far and away the hottest apprentice.

True but there's virtually no competition; Debra's face is massive and empty, Lorraine is a lost cause, and Yasmina looks like a gremlin. Mona's alright. Kate is almost ruined by the massive teeth and as I've not sampled a ginger before I think I'd rather have Paula out of the ones in this series.

Mona shouldn't have gone, but as I don't think she could have won it, so why not keep that Deborah cow in it, for more entertaining veiwing?

I like that bloke who was also bought back to the boardroom, although his name is beyond me currently. James?

Yea James, maybe not the best of a bad bunch but out of all of the candidates he's probably the only one you could imagine working with people and not winding them up.

That Yasminda one is ok but the rest I would lush out my bowels with let alone employ.

Next week I think it'll be Monoeyebrow glasses woman or moonfaced whinger to go.

pretty sure they will make it, they are typical Sugar employees, lorraine however, doesnt matter if she made a million quid, she wont wont win, doesn't fit the mould. I've got a feeling he favours horsey face, he didnt give her any greif last night or even ask her why she would stay.

Totally the opposite for me.

Kate wont win. She wont because Sugar has a real thing about women having maternity leave/pay. He wont forget about how she was with Philip, went to jelly and totally useless. Subsequently she was indenial about it, not just in the boardroom but back in the flat when she told Lorraine to 'never call into question her professionalism', which was an absolute outrage, she blatently took it easy with Philip and Ben. Sugar will see straight through all that. And she wears strange female suits/ties that look rediculous, like a WPC stripper outfit. But still the second best female candidate.

Yasmina is by far the best, the most intelligent and calculating of all the candidates, she will win. Margaret (the aide) likes Lorraine, but Sugar thinks she's got a screw loose and hates her 'I told you so attitude'. Debra is a monster and not nearly as good as she thinks she is. Those Margate posters were utter shite and she knows it. Good at dominating people, but low on talent.

Ben has already accepted he isnt going to win. He is a broken man. But actually he's much better now he's chilled out a bit. James is my dark horse, Sugar is very hard on him, but hard on him like he is his own son. Secretly he likes James, who is amiable and a steady performer. As is Howard, the most articulate candidate. Havnt got a clue why he got slagged off so much on the your fired show? I think Sugar see's Howard as someone he could rely on. Someone who would never embaress him, whereas James probably would.

Yasmina to win. Howard in the final.

The piss clip still gets me. Suggs is pretty fond of James I think, in last nights episode when he had him in the boardroom he began the chat with James as though he was already his employee. They do love to spring a surprise and give mixed messages though.

Yasmina is by far the best, the most intelligent and calculating of all the candidates, she will win.

Ain't there a thing called paternity pay now, which would mean it would cost the same for an employer ? You can generally see a woman is pregnant & therefore have some advance warning. It's not so easy to detect if a bloke is going to be a dad.

I think he does tend to prefer men over women. The last time he picked a female winner was that girl who was against ruth badger and she left his company after just a few months or something and made him look a fool.

Phil S - Paternity pay is not nearly as much as maternity pay. Maternity leave is a much longer period of time.

Because Yasmina hasnt been unprofessional enough to have a relationship with another contestant. Putting personal life before career = Allan Sugar Alarm bells.

Agree that she is on thin ice because of the soap, but then they all are really? At least the soap was a mistake rather than a fault with her.

I'd still do Yasmina. Yeah, i know she's a bit rough, but something about her makes me want to try it out.

I hope James wins, purely because he's the sort of bloke that you could have a roit with at work. Clearly not a serious bone in his body and would appear the polar opposite of what Sugar is after, which is why it's be Kool (with a K).

Sir Alan's eye twinkles when he's talking to James and I have to agree unless he's wiped his arse with his CV post bean curry he's a cert for the final.

For me it’s a hard call out of the witches of Eastwick who will get fired next week.

Out of the remaining four based on past experience I think Debra is far to abrasive and will wind-up the interviewers in all sorts of ways.  Abrasive face and gunt modeller Yasmina will get savaged by the harder questions while mono-brow swinger Lorraine (lower lips also like a quiche) is far too uneasy on the eye and to slow thinking for old Alan’s liking.

That leaves gold-fish face who seems to have not tarred her copybook like the others while not really doing owt much either.

Try running your helmet up a cheese grater and you'll get the same effect as her face.

To be fair if she lost the gunt and acne she'd wouldn't be half way to bad.

This has turned into the 'Arse' show.

James - funny but looks like an Ass
Debra - mouth like an arse
Lorraine - appeared out of an arse and had glasses put on in an attempt to look cool.
Yasmina - Iranian for 'covet my arse'
Kate - if she speaks out of the corner of her mouth with any further she'll be talking out the back of her arse.
Sir AS - Hairy arse.

Just my opinion of course. No offence.

I felt really sorry for her when he started belittling her on turnover etc. Her face was like some poor child that had just been shouted at, albeit with skin like a pumice stone. I don't know how anyone could be such a cunt to someone who has done them no harm. [drama queen] I was actually verging on being upset at that.[/drama queen]

Shame James went, he was the character. Debra was a cunt, but for some unknown reason kinda wanted to see her win it after the interviews. Kate's dull and Yasmina, once the love of my life, will hopefully now win.

I'm not 100% sure but would he have been able to know for ages? Isn't the final filmed only a week or a few days before broadcast or something?

I thought it was all filmed back in September? Although it might be different for the final.

Look at this from wikipedia...  :D

Quote
In fact, two versions of the final boardroom sequence are filmed — showing each of the finalists winning. Between filming and transmission — a period of about six months — both finalists work for Sir Alan in temporary jobs. Sir Alan does not reveal his decision about who he is going to hire until shortly before transmission, and this determines which ending is shown. The BBC has issued contradictory statements about the decision procedure. The first version of events is that Sir Alan makes his decision on the day that the final boardroom sequence is filmed, based on the contestants' performance in the final task, and keeps it secret until just before transmission. The second version is that Sir Alan decides after the six-month trial period. Former contestant Saira Khan also stated that "His final decision is not based on the programme that people see. His final decision is based on these two people [who] have been working with him for the six months."

Yeah. Or at the least he doesn't make his decision known.

Also, take note people - The final is THIS SUNDAY AT 9PM not next wednesday.

It was rescheduled to avoid clashing with football.

I reckon if it was from behind you could more than get away with it.

I do too.  Backstabbing cow that she is?
Yasmina is the best candidate left IMHO
James is too much like a lump of turd, & would have gone yesterday if Howard hadn't.
Kate will get to the final, & Sugar likes blondes

After getting it right I think I should be Sugars heir.

He could have had 2 really explosive candidates to choose from, both big characters, if he had gone for Debra and Yasmina.

Really hope goody two shoes doesnt win. You'd like to think that after 12 weeks, someone who isnt 1st class honours/straight A student wouldn't win, and someone with a bit of personality would.

Claude was ace! He ripped them apart.

Whoever tipped Yasmina a while back has Deborah-like intuition, I hope she wins out of the two.

I think it's because of the England game on Wednesday.

Not because of the game,i thought ITV have it on weds. I think its so theres 5 days of media before the weekend, compared to the two that would have been.

No it was because of the game. All England games get very high ratings and the apprentice final gets high ratings too so BBC didn't want to clash with that and reduce their audience (altho some people probably missed it thinking it was Wednesday).

Out of the 2 of them I'm glad Yasmina won.

I've always wondered what happens to the good ideas they come up with through the series. The exercise ball thing looked good and could be a major success, I liked the Choco Electric idea as well. I reckon Sir Alan should have the winner pick one of the ideas developed through the series and turn it in to a real product as their first role.

But it's a real job they've got.  I don't see Amstrad (or whatever it is called now) entering the confectionery, beauty product or home exercise market anytime soon.

Good point, but major fail I'm afraid. The first winner's (Timothy Campbell) first job at Amstrad was as head of their newly formed health and beauty division.

Plus Alan Sugar doesn't care where he makes money from, he'll launch any kind of product if he thinks there is a profit in it. Don't forget that it doesn't take much effort either, design the product and then outsource the manufacturing and distribution. Job done.

He doesn't own Amstrad any more either, he sold it to Sky.

Thankyou for the correction. What do you do for a career?

Most of my day is spent pissing people off by endlessly correcting errors in forum postings.

The rest of the time I do stuff with computers.
