Title: Swindon to help out Weymouth? Post by: Samdy Gray on Thursday, March 5, 2009, 10:47:34 Could Jake Hyde be off on a free loan?
Quote WEYMOUTH boss Alan Lewer is working hard in an attempt to bring Swindon Town’s Jake Hyde back to the Wessex Stadium. The Terras host York City tonight (7.45pm) in the second meeting between the two sides in the space of six days. And Lewer, who has been working around the clock to build as strong a squad as possible, is hopeful that striker Hyde, who scored one goal in six appearances for the Terras last season, could be drafted in on loan. He said: “We’re on the case as we speak and I’ve been trying to get in touch with Swindon manager Danny Wilson. But fingers crossed we can sort something out. “Hopefully he will come but I’m not entirely sure if a deal will be done because we can’t offer any money.” Former Dorchester Town keeper Simon Evans, ex-Cambridge United defender Gavin Hoyte, and Peterborough United loanees Billy Crook and Kwesi Appiah all played in the 2-0 defeat at KitKat Crescent on Saturday and are set to be included in tonight’s squad. First-team players Stephen Reed and Cameron Mawer, who are yet to be paid by the club in 2009, will also be involved. But Manchester United Academy youngster Kenny Strickland is expected to be unavailable due to travelling costs while Jordan Collins is suffering with an ankle injury and could be out for up to two weeks. Lewer added: “Reedy, Cameron, Hoyte and Simon Evans remain from Saturday as do Billy Crook and Kwesi Appiah because Peterborough have agreed to pay their expenses but apart from that it’s looking like it’ll be youth players again unless we can add more people, which we are trying to do. “We’re all committed to the cause and the boys are raring to go. “Hopefully the fans will get behind us because you never know, with their support we could pull something out of the bag.” The Terras lie 15th in the Blue Square Premier, two places and six points above City, but are without a win, or a goal, since the 2-0 victory at Torquay United on February 10. A pitch inspection is set to be carried out by former Premier League referee Paul Durkin following overnight snow. Meanwhile, former Terra Scott Doe has signed a two-and-a-half year deal with Coca-Cola League Two outfit Dagenham & Redbridge. http://www.dorsetecho.co.uk/sport/4176214.Hyde_and_seek_for_Lewer/ Title: Re: Swindon to help out Weymouth? Title: Re: Swindon to help out Weymouth? Post by: suttonred on Thursday, March 5, 2009, 11:03:57 They can have Peacock too, if they want him! Joking aside would be a nice gesture if we could help out with a couple of players who are'nt going to be involved with the squad, would give them some playing time and be good to get a look at them in a decent standard of football, i.e. Casal, Pook etcTitle: Re: Swindon to help out Weymouth? Post by: Peter Venkman on Thursday, March 5, 2009, 11:06:47 I totally agree, we have good links with Weymouth with ex players and youth teamers going to them, they are a nice friendly club and I wish them well.
Title: Re: Swindon to help out Weymouth? Post by: herthab on Thursday, March 5, 2009, 11:09:57 Even if we still had to pay them, it would make sense for some of the fringe/youth players to get some competive games in.
At the moment players like pook, caal, marshall are being paid to do fuck all. Title: Re: Swindon to help out Weymouth? Post by: Bob's Orange on Thursday, March 5, 2009, 11:19:08 'But Manchester United Academy youngster Kenny Strickland is expected to be unavailable due to travelling costs'. That is ludicrous. Surely Man Utd aren't short of a bob or two to be able to pay travelling costs??
'Reedy, Cameron, Hoyte and Simon Evans remain from Saturday as do Billy Crook and Kwesi Appiah because Peterborough have agreed to pay their expenses' Good on Peterborough as well, shame on you Man U!! Title: Re: Swindon to help out Weymouth? Post by: LucienSanchez on Thursday, March 5, 2009, 11:22:57 I wonder if the likes of Pook or Casal would agree to such a loan move. Well Marshall wouldn't even go to Bournemouth... that annoyed me. Title: Re: Swindon to help out Weymouth? Post by: suttonred on Thursday, March 5, 2009, 11:24:23 He was one of ours too, wasn't he? Yes never got near the 1st team though.Title: Re: Swindon to help out Weymouth? I wonder if being out of contract will change their attitude (though I fear Casal has another eyar to run). Are they more likely to be spotted in Swindon Ressies or Weymouth firsts? Title: Re: Swindon to help out Weymouth? Post by: Luci on Thursday, March 5, 2009, 13:26:51 Are they more likely to be spotted in Swindon Ressies or Weymouth firsts? I'd opt for most likely in the pub. Title: Re: Swindon to help out Weymouth? Post by: Reg Smeeton on Thursday, March 5, 2009, 17:13:31 He was one of ours too, wasn't he? As I recall it was Doe who Phil Cannon went to scout when he spotted Theo Walcott. It's heartbreaking, when considering the state of our club, that we were responsible for getting England's finest young talent into the game and got fuck all for it. You mean we unearthered Crouch too Reg? Title: Re: Swindon to help out Weymouth? Post by: Reg Smeeton on Thursday, March 5, 2009, 18:06:38 You mean we unearthered Crouch too Reg? Before we got to him, he was buried in a coffin....only bypassing the floodlights, sticking a couple of electrodes on him, and switching on, made him the player he is today. Title: Re: Swindon to help out Weymouth? Post by: janaage on Thursday, March 5, 2009, 18:19:11 Sounds like something Mike D would have enjoyed doing!

A coffin? You sure it wasn't a snooker cue case? Title: Re: Swindon to help out Weymouth? You may have unearthed something here Reg. Why not try this with our squad to turn them into livewires again. At worst it would neutralise some, in a Mafia kind of way. Or we could just swap teams with Weymouth, they'd play like men possessed at the thought of getting paid. Title: Re: Swindon to help out Weymouth? Post by: Samdy Gray on Friday, March 6, 2009, 15:10:39 Looks like we did let him out on loan:
Quote One piece of positive news for Lewer is that he has managed to acquire the services of Swindon Town youngster Jake Hyde. The striker netted once in six appearances for the Terras during a loan spell last season and he will go straight into the team for Sunday. Lewer added: “Jake did well while he was here last season and he will be a big help. I think Sam Cutler may play as well but we will have to wait and see.” http://www.dorsetecho.co.uk/sport/4179735.Snow_was_a_blessing_for_beleaguered_Terras/ |
