Title: Re: Beckham on the bench today Post by: Bennett on Sunday, January 11, 2009, 15:43:42 Italian football is not on tv in the UK. SSN have the rights to show 2 minute highlights. i hope Milan get battered tonight. who is it you support? Title: Re: Beckham on the bench today Post by: Rich Pullen on Sunday, January 11, 2009, 15:59:51 For me the interesting factor lies with his future at the Galaxy - the MLS could be hit majorly by a potential Beckham departure.
After a decade of good, steady work by the USSF/MLS officials to maintain a decent standard of football in the U.S. only to introduce the marquee player rule and let it potentially blow up in their faces ala NASL would be a disaster for them. It may sound melodramatic but if Beckham is allowed to walk then it will do a lot of damage. The NASL never recovered from the departure of Pele. Beckham went there too early and wasn't followed by the likes of Figo and Zidane leaving him the only marketable name. Not that many care, I don't really either - but it'll be interesting to see what happens. Title: Re: Beckham on the bench today Post by: Scot Munroe on Sunday, January 11, 2009, 17:10:00 who is it you support? I know you follow Fiorentina. Roma. Title: Re: Beckham on the bench today Post by: Bennett on Sunday, January 11, 2009, 17:17:32 I know you follow Fiorentina. Roma. i was just wondering why you wanted milan to get battered when you...oh you support roma. i have a feeling i had already read that 8) Title: Re: Beckham on the bench today Post by: Spencer_White on Sunday, January 11, 2009, 19:47:11 Anyone else see Uli Hoeness' comments about Beckham's Milan move?
I especially liked the bit where he said 'I run a football club, I dont care if Victoria Beckham has the biggest room in the hotel or not'. Title: Re: Beckham on the bench today Post by: Scot Munroe on Sunday, January 11, 2009, 21:30:12 Beckham played for 88 mins before being replaced by Flamini. Game finished 2-2. Vucinic 2 for roma and Pato with both goals for Milan.
Title: Re: Beckham on the bench today Post by: oxford_fan on Wednesday, January 28, 2009, 16:39:45 Beckham scored his first goal the other day, in a 4-1 victory over Bologna. Highlights here with Soccer AM-style commentary:
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=CNoUfJa2goM&feature=related Nice goal from Kaka and Beckham's was a good finish too. Listen to him try to sound like an Italian speaking English here: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=a-BKhYdfLsI&eurl=http://www.offthepost.info/page/2/ :-) Title: Re: Beckham on the bench today Post by: axs on Wednesday, January 28, 2009, 17:41:22 That commentator did my head in, sounds fucking moronic. Unlike David of course.
Title: Re: Beckham on the bench today Post by: michael on Wednesday, January 28, 2009, 21:56:58 I really want an AC Milan shirt now :)

Title: Re: Beckham on the bench today Post by: oxford_fan on Wednesday, January 28, 2009, 23:14:57 He scored a free-kick today. With Capello watching. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=zAV2qIZcEhI what a pathetic wall! the two blokes were shitting it. i think milan drew 1-1 with genoa. Title: Re: Beckham on the bench today Post by: DV on Wednesday, January 28, 2009, 23:21:24 He will sign for them no doubt I hope so. I used to like Beckham as a player. He really was one of the best. Then he went to LA Galaxy when he clearly still had a few years left in him, to me it almost seemed like he had sold out and would rather be a 'celebrity' than a footballer. I'd love to see him go back to being a footballer, at a decent level just to remind everyone why he's one of the best English footballers we've seen for many years. Title: Re: Beckham on the bench today Post by: DMR on Wednesday, January 28, 2009, 23:25:20 I bet he's regretting taking the money and going to play mickey mouse football now.
Title: Re: Beckham on the bench today Post by: jayohaitchenn on Thursday, January 29, 2009, 12:23:49 I bet he's regretting taking the money and going to play mickey mouse football now. AHAHAAHAHAHAHA. Yes i'm sure he's gutted. Title: Re: Beckham on the bench today Post by: Colin Todd on Thursday, January 29, 2009, 13:25:05 Yeah I'd be outraged that I had league winners medals from england and spain, over a hundered international caps and £100's of millions in the bank.
Title: Re: Beckham on the bench today Post by: DV on Thursday, January 29, 2009, 13:31:54 Whilst all thats true, there is obviously apart of him that still wants to play football at a decent level. Otherwise he wouldnt be at Milan now.
Title: Re: Beckham on the bench today Post by: jayohaitchenn on Thursday, January 29, 2009, 13:37:35 He wants to continue playing for England which is why he's at Milan now. The pair of them have set themselves up nicely in the US with her fashion rubbish and his "soccer" schools, I just can't see them moving again.
At the end of the day it's all down to Vicky, not Dave. Title: Re: Beckham on the bench today Post by: oxford_fan on Thursday, January 29, 2009, 15:05:40 Yeah I'd be outraged that I had league winners medals from england and spain, over a hundered international caps and £100's of millions in the bank. ....and wasting away in a shit league, in a country where football is the 8th most popular sport, for the last couple of seasons of your glittering career. i bet he regrets going to the USA where the football is shit. playing for Milan would have reminded him how good it is to be at a top side, in a good league. the only rational reason to go to america is money. but they have loads already. it must be down to victoria as you say. Title: Re: Beckham on the bench today Post by: nochee on Thursday, January 29, 2009, 15:30:35 Surely Milan is the fashion capital of the world, wouldnt she be happy there?!
Im trying to get tickets for Lazio v Milan for this Sunday. Will be my first game since being here in Italy. Title: Re: Beckham on the bench today Post by: jayohaitchenn on Thursday, January 29, 2009, 15:35:12 She's too dumb to learn Italian.
Title: Re: Beckham on the bench today Post by: nochee on Thursday, January 29, 2009, 15:49:51 She's too dumb to learn Italian. I heard she is struggling to get to grips with American ::) Title: Re: Beckham on the bench today Post by: Rich Pullen on Thursday, January 29, 2009, 17:05:48 Without doubt Beckham went to the U.S. too early, and perhaps more importantly wasn't followed by players like Zinedine Zidane, Luis Figo or Pavel Nedved. He ended up the only real marketable "marquee" player.
Title: Re: Beckham on the bench today Post by: nochee on Friday, January 30, 2009, 17:01:44 WooooooooooooHoooooooooooooo, I got my Lazio V Milan tickets.
Sadly i have heard that Beckham wont be playing nor will Maldini as he got sent off in the last game. Still its the Olympic stadium for me on Sunday night. Buzzin :D Title: Re: Beckham on the bench today Post by: bigbobjoylove on Sunday, February 1, 2009, 20:06:58 http://www.iraqgoals.com/en/ch1.html
Lazio vs Milan if anyone wants a stream. Beckham in the side. Title: Re: Beckham on the bench today Post by: adje on Sunday, February 1, 2009, 20:37:32 I'd love to see him go back to being a footballer, at a decent level just to remind everyone why he's one of the best English footballers we've seen for many years. That is saying very little at all though ,isn't it Deev? Title: Re: Beckham on the bench today Post by: bigbobjoylove on Sunday, February 1, 2009, 20:54:49 2-0 Milan, both goals set up by Beckham.
Title: Re: Beckham on the bench today Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Sunday, February 1, 2009, 21:24:48 The bloke is still quality
Title: Re: Beckham on the bench today Post by: bigbobjoylove on Sunday, February 1, 2009, 23:32:09 He set up another 2 good chances aswell, one was off-side and the other was selfish play by Kaka who hit the post instead of an easy pass.
His delivery is spot on, much better player than the awful Pirlo who seems to have lost all of his ability. Title: Re: Beckham on the bench today Post by: DV on Monday, February 2, 2009, 01:22:50 That is saying very little at all though ,isn't it Deev? Nope. Beckham is still a World Class player and the best English midfielder we've still got. Title: Re: Beckham on the bench today Post by: nochee on Monday, February 2, 2009, 09:10:53 Nope. Beckham is still a World Class player and the best English midfielder we've still got. Spot on about being world class DV. I was at the game last night and Beckham looked as fit as he ever has been and played Fantastic. He ran all over the park and put in some superb crosses. 2 of which led to goals. AC could of scored a hatful tonight if it was not for some poor finishing. The Atmosphere was absolutely amazing, the roar of noise that each set of supporters made was something that i have never heard before and the stadium was just over half full at most. It didnt sound like songs that were being sung it was literally a huge roar, its hard to decribe. It started and stopped to perfection, the timing in which they performed was unreal. And of course the usual bonfire in the stands was lit after the first goal which only made the stewards get up lazily and stamp out without causing an onslaught of police in full riot gear invading the crowd. An absolutelf fantastic night out. Im going again i think :D Title: Re: Beckham on the bench today Post by: Scot Munroe on Saturday, February 7, 2009, 11:35:24 You can see Beckham live on BBC 3 next week as the Milan derby is live on the channel next Sunday starting at 7pm.
