Title: Re: Roberts benefit match Post by: swindon-chap on Tuesday, December 30, 2008, 16:36:58 Looking forward to this. I'm guessing it will be a near full stadium?
Wise and Poyet will be expecting some abuse... Title: Re: Roberts benefit match Post by: chalkies_shorts on Tuesday, December 30, 2008, 16:41:12 I would guess it will be a nowhere near stadium. I'll be there but I can't see this getting the stay at homes off their jacksies

Title: Re: Roberts benefit match Post by: DV on Tuesday, December 30, 2008, 16:47:04 Where is the money from this going?
Is it going to charity or does it go to Roberts like a testimonial would? Might sound harsh, but we were the one paying his wages for months whilst he was injured and/or drunk and in rehab. We should get the money! Title: Re: Roberts benefit match Post by: Fred Elliot on Tuesday, December 30, 2008, 16:47:18 Will get alot of chelsea fans out though. unless its on tele Title: Re: Roberts benefit match Post by: Reg Smeeton on Tuesday, December 30, 2008, 16:48:18 Looking forward to this. I'm guessing it will be a near full stadium? Wise and Poyet will be expecting some abuse... No chance of a full stadium...I remember Charlie Henry's testimonial...a true Swindon hero, just over a couple of thousand. Pissed down like a monsoon, we played Soton, then top flight and got stuffed 7-1 :badmood: Fraser Digby had the right idea...get yourself ManUre reserves and full house guaranteed...2000 Town loyalists and 12000 sad cases. Title: Re: Roberts benefit match Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Tuesday, December 30, 2008, 18:28:50 I might go to this. Sounds pretty good. Would be nice to give Robbo a decent send off as well.

Title: Re: Roberts benefit match Post by: Fred Elliot on Tuesday, December 30, 2008, 18:57:00 parkin a chealse hero ha ha ha Didnt read this bit ? "He has arranged a game between a Swindon team featuring several former Robins and a Chelsea All-Stars squad." Title: Re: Roberts benefit match Post by: chalkies_shorts on Tuesday, December 30, 2008, 20:30:33 No chance of a full stadium...I remember Charlie Henry's testimonial...a true Swindon hero, just over a couple of thousand. And The Don had less than 2000 - now that weas bloody sad. Title: Re: Roberts benefit match Post by: Simon Pieman on Thursday, January 1, 2009, 15:46:09 I don't think I will go, I'll probably try and save the cash.
Aren't some television 'stars' playing as well? Scraping the barrel! Title: Re: Roberts benefit match Post by: Arriba on Thursday, January 1, 2009, 15:47:02 i wont be attending due to work, but doubt i would have gone anyway.
gurney was more deserving of a game like this, as he served us better before having to retire due to injury. Title: Re: Roberts benefit match Post by: michael on Thursday, January 1, 2009, 15:53:17 Wonder if Wootton Bassett side KC FC will allow Jonathan Wilkes to have a run out at this? He is such a dreamboat.
Title: Re: Roberts benefit match Post by: STFC4LIFE on Thursday, January 1, 2009, 16:00:12 The money is going to a cancer charity, Roberts's dad died of cancer in October I think it said.

Title: Re: Roberts benefit match Post by: billy the fish on Thursday, January 1, 2009, 16:03:10 The money is going to a cancer charity, Roberts's dad died of cancer in October I think it said/ good for him Poyet, Wise, Zola, Hasselbaink, Parkin and Bodin comfirmed. Title: Re: Roberts benefit match Post by: chalkies_shorts on Thursday, January 1, 2009, 19:21:33 i wont be attending due to work, but doubt i would have gone anyway. Arriba couldn't disagree more. Gurney was an absolute cunt and would probably feature in my all time worst XI. I actually don't think either of them deserve a benefit game but with the proceeds of this one going to Cancer Research then I hope it is packed out. gurney was more deserving of a game like this, as he served us better before having to retire due to injury. I actually don't think either of them deserve a benefit game but with the proceeds of this one going to Cancer Research then I hope it is packed out. i dont think either deserve one but used gurney as an example.if its all going to charity(which i doubt)then fair enough. why would gurney feature in an all time worst 11 for you? i think he is one of our better players of the last 10 years, despite his flaws. Title: Re: Roberts benefit match Post by: chalkies_shorts on Thursday, January 1, 2009, 22:01:48 Positionally inept, gave the ball away too often, tackled like a flat track bully, gobby fucker with the ref, played for himself not the team. 'Nam away, Hewlett etc.
I just didn't like the bloke and didn't rate him. Title: Re: Roberts benefit match Post by: Simon Pieman on Thursday, January 1, 2009, 23:14:06 Wasn't Gurney still playing until recently? He may even be playing at the moment, I just can't be asked to look it up.
