That said, if Brez and Smith stay, we don't need another keeper.  They are as good or better than Higgs when on form. And Higgs can't have been on form either, or he wouldn't have lost his place.

Been reading around and you are right, but they are at the limit of their wage budget. And the bloke running the show won't break it - so I guess Allen offloading surpless in order to free up wages.

Allen has made 9 loan signings and 2 short term deals since arriving. Not sure I fancy Cheltenham's survival chances.

No, no, no I clearly remember people shouting about how we'd missed out by not getting him in, how 'Nam would be mid-table in no time while we sank into relegation mire and how all those loan signings was clear evidence that Allen was a manager who could get players in, unlike our own manager, and further reason why we should have got Allen as manager when we could. Surely they can't all have been talking shit could they?

And I wasn't expecting the Whadden Road revolution that seems to have happened. I'd be surprised if a team of loan players will stay up.

I also thought he'd do enough to keep Nam up, and as you say he may still yet do that, but some of the "Oooh, look Allen's filling his side with loan players I wish we could do that if only we had a manager who could get loan players in etc etc" posts at the time were damn stupid

We could probably still do with a couple of loan players though imo.

russell was quality for torquay.moved to city and got injured,plus he must be around 36ish now.

he and graham kept them in the league for a season or more. where is david graham nowadays? i think he moved to shef wed a couple of years ago but i have not heard of him since. looked quality down in the basement.

Alex Russell was quite popular at Bristol City from what I'm told... I remember him smacking the bar twice against us at Plainmoor (2-2 draw).

Shane Higgs would be a good signing considering how he's performed against us.

Cheltenham have mediocre players and Allen will fill Whaddon Road with loans and rejects of Franchise and Leicester kids.
