Title: Schools
Post by: Miss Angry on Wednesday, November 26, 2008, 20:32:28
My son is at peatmoor primary, we got a letter home yesterday saying that Swindon Town will be in school all week doing activities with the kids, mostly to promote anti bullying.
The "stfc superstore" is also going in tomo so the children can buy stuff, although they have out a cap on it at £2 per child and parents can go in after school to purchase more expensive goods.

Yesterday they had a talk on bullying from the community guys. Today Lilian Nalis went in to give french lessons, My son got his autograph and is well proud of it... apart from he told me he was talking to William Gallas!
Tomo they are doing a whole afternoon of pe with them.

I think its really cool, my boy hates football but he has come home full of it this week, also it seems the guys are really trying to rally up town support by telling the children not to support the likes of man u, chelsea etc

I remember ooh Shaun Taylor coming in to my primary school a couple of times, that was ace.

Also remember the town players doing their training on the greendown astro because the training ground was flooded or something like that. Everyone went to gawp and see how crap they were, but I Mark Walters' silky skills soon shut them up.

Oh and  teach your son to say "you're shit and slow" in French for next time   :D

Speaking of which, I take it they're not there for the whole day? That would mean they're not training. Byrne out!

Darren Eadie visited Westbury Junior School in 1994. He was a friend of one of the teachers and just popped in... No official appearance. I've mentioned it before, I swapped my 93/94 Darren Eadie sticker for an Adi Whitbread earlier that same day.

Jeremy Guscott visited my secondary school - he appeared to be an arrogant cock.

At least two pupils who went on to play for Swindon Town attended the old comprehensive, which school was that?

In my day, bullying were luxury, we looked forward to it.  We used to gargle with hot gravel in t' schoolyard..............

Joking aside, i'm impressed, it's about time something was done to stop the kids wearing manu or chelsea shirts as default, and tied up with a good cause. Fair play to Lilian and the club

It seems to be an initiative the club are taking to a lot of primary schools this year. They came to my sons school (haydonleigh primary), but only did stuff with certain age ranges so he missed out as he was too young. Not moaning BTW, it's understandable given the limited time they and the limited success they'd get with a class of 4-5 year olds!

Well done  STFC.

You win the grand prize, Gilbert O'Sullivan went there also.

The old lower school had low ceilings, including in the boy's toilets.  A bald teacher walked in and got dripped on soon after someone had won the competition to piss on the ceiling, he wondered why everyone was killing themselves laughing.  Happy days.

Hahahahahah! That came as a shock..I thought you were about 18 or something!! I don't know why. That comment suggests you may be a tad older though ???

Mildy played in the same youth team as my son - Pinehurst!  He came to us as a centre back, all legs and no football brain.  Keeper never turned up one week, Mildy volunteered to go in goal - and the rest, as they say, is history!

I like all that '50 is the new 40, 40 is the new 30' stuff. I fully endorse that philosophy 8)

What with the baby waking at 3am and this cold that I have (that would kill normal mortals) 35 is the new 55.

He did go to Villa for trials when he was about 14, but I think it got put on the backburner due to logistical problems.  Terry Wollen advised Town to give him a chance IIRC.

Well, yesterday a player with a white face and red cheeks went in and today the discriptions got a little better but not much...a goal keeper and defender, one was white one was black, one of which went to art school apparently!

I thought it was just a couple of classes, but they have been taking the whole school assemblys. i think its great.

Back to the original point though. It is brilliant that the Club are doing this kind of thing and yet more evidence, were it needed, that Fitton & Co know exactly what they are doing.

Top drawer.
