Did anyone see the "dirty tricks" programme the other day, basically telling the story of how George Bus (sr) managed to beat Michael Dukakis (sp) through a campaign based on lying about his opponent.  Basically they lied and lied about MD until the American public bought their propaganda.  MD should have stood up to them and fought his corner but he didn't he tried to use a fair campaign and it back fired.

Was a disgrace really.

I thought Megan's law was the american version of that particular bit of legislation, think the press this side of the Atlantic were trying to get "Sarah's Law" passed over here, based on Megan's Law.

America has better election adverts than us because they have more of them - hundreds of them. People can buy TV and radio ad time on behalf of the candidates where as here the various Representation of the People Act restricts almost every broadcast and forces equal coverage for all major parties and since the 50s we've had the rigidly allocated Party Election Broadcasts.

Plus we seem to vote for a man in a suit, talking. After all Kinnock: The Movie and Major's The Journey weren't huge successes.

I listened to the second Presidential Debate last night.It was rubbish,the whole thing had been negoatiated by their staff so that they couldn't get at each other it was far to sanatised.McCain made a few little digs about Obamas "inexpierence" totally predictable nonsense.

Im still loving the whole American Election Circus though,its ace.
