I am off on a River Cruiser on the Thames for a few days and we've banked on there being loads of pubs along the river from Lechlade and heading into Oxfordshire. The problem is, my research seems to suggest there is pretty much fuck all to do on that entire route.

It's a long shot, but does anyone have a clue where we could stop and do/drink/eat stuff?

There are loads of pubs, pretty much one every hour or so.

Well there's the Swan at Radcot for starters, which is quite nice. I take it you are hiring the boat?

   The Thames used to be a major transport link....with lots a thirsty  boatmen, hence the large numbers of pubs on it in seemingly quiet places.  A classic used to be the Anchor at Eaton Hastings, but that burnt down....aside from Radcot, there's the Trout at Tadpole Broidge....must be SY's local and the Rose Revived at Newbridge.  Further along I don't know much about as it gets close to O*frod, so don't go there.

really not that hard, but never done it whilst pissed up.

Driving isn't hard, it's the stopping and manouvering (sp?) that sorts the men out from the boys.

it's pretty easy as long as it isn't windy. or you ground out.

Ilike to walk the Thames path...and one day hope to do the whole route Gloucester to London,with a pub stop every evening!

 I've done a chunk from the start to near O*frod, then Wallingford to near Reading, then oddly some London stuff, which is fascinating.

 I don't much like the area between Reading and London...although I'm sure it would be an interesting walk.

 Her question was what river is Bradford on?  An altogether trickier question, which I'll challenge you to get ungoogled.

 If it's any consolation neither did I...I thought it was the River Aire but apparently not. It's the Bradford Beck....a stream now wholly underground.

We stopped at the Swan at Radcot, Rose Revived in Newbridge, Head of the River in Oxford, and the Ferryman at Bablock Hythe. I think that was all. We missed the Trout at Tadpole Bridge which was disappointing. Awesome weekend, the highlight of my boating career being to park the 35 foot, 9 tonne vessel with the boating equivalent of a handbrake turn in the middle of Oxford... boating holidays rule.

hmmmmm I hope its not just for a visa??  ;)
