Title: Mercury Prize shortlist Post by: michael on Tuesday, July 22, 2008, 19:35:41 Adele - 19
British Sea Power - Do you like rock music? Burial - Untrue Elbow - The Seldom Seen Kid Estelle - Shine Laura Marling - Alas I Cannot Swim Neon Neon - Stainless Style Portico Quartet - Knee-deep in the North Sea Rachel Unthank and the Winterset - The Bairns Radiohead - In Rainbows Robert Plant & Alison Krauss - Raising Sand The Last Shadow Puppets - The Age of The Understatement I like Neon Neon a lot (a fan of both SFA and Boom Bip). I heard that they turned up to a gig recently in a De Lorean car - the album is of course about John De Lorean - which I suppose beats an old Transit van. Title: Re: Mercury Prize shortlist Post by: Bogus Dave on Tuesday, July 22, 2008, 19:41:27 i've only got four of those albums. of those four:
radiohead is depressing shite neon neon is good at a first listen, but got a little irritating quickly. I never really got the hype around the last shadow puppets Laura marling would get my vote. good folk-ey album Title: Re: Mercury Prize shortlist Post by: Bob's Orange on Tuesday, July 22, 2008, 19:48:57 Elbow album is class
Title: Re: Mercury Prize shortlist Post by: Panda Paws on Tuesday, July 22, 2008, 19:58:46 The Burial album is awesome. Fairly unique but a great sound
Title: Re: Mercury Prize shortlist Post by: flammableBen on Tuesday, July 22, 2008, 20:02:59 I was about to say that I haven't listened to any of them. But I've randomly got the burial album kicking about somewhere. I can't remember if it's good though.
Title: Re: Mercury Prize shortlist Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Tuesday, July 22, 2008, 20:07:57 British Sea Power should win. That's a top album.
Title: Re: Mercury Prize shortlist Post by: oxford_fan on Tuesday, July 22, 2008, 20:12:07 It's pretty amazing that Burial got nominated. I really hope he wins.

I would do now, but I'm about to put on a film Title: Re: Mercury Prize shortlist Post by: michael on Tuesday, July 22, 2008, 20:42:53 Burial is pretty good alright. I think Portishead have a really good album out too.

Title: Re: Mercury Prize shortlist Post by: oxford_fan on Wednesday, July 23, 2008, 10:07:05 i've only heard in rainbows and that only has one good track not quite!which one? Title: Re: Mercury Prize shortlist Post by: Spud on Wednesday, July 23, 2008, 16:39:38 I'd have to go with British Sea Power out of that selection.
The Last Shadow Puppets album was a bit of a let down and Neon Neon has a couple of good tracks on it but thats about it. Title: Re: Mercury Prize shortlist Post by: leefer on Wednesday, July 23, 2008, 16:42:08 The crappiest album will win....anything to shock us,Elbow are a fine band though.
Title: Re: Mercury Prize shortlist Post by: flammableBen on Wednesday, July 23, 2008, 17:34:31 I've been listening to the elbow album in question. I want to like it, but to be honest I've gotten a bit bored, guess I'm not in the right mood for it. "On a day like this" has just livened things up a bit though.
