Be afraid, be very afraid.  Water industry job losses - highly regulated and protected profit industry laying a few people off = nobody is safe apart from Poundland staff.

Stop scare mongering, no one is safe, pfft!

Jesus what is it with people these days, long gone are the days of the stiff upper lip British spirit, looks like we've turned into a bunch of cowards.  We shall fight on the high streets, we shall fight on-line, we may even fight in the job centres, we shall never surrender.

We'll get through all of this, chill the flip out!

Chill out. Yeah I mean it's silly to worry how you will pay the mortgage, feed your kids and find a new job in the current climate  Roll Eyes

Probably a bit easier if you are guaranteed a fat redundancy payoff though.

That's a fair point Batch, but I really don't see the point in focussing on the negative, or the over the top negative.  The media need to take a massive flipping smack in the chops for all of this.  Logging on to the BBC site seeing a massive red arrow pointing down on a grapgh with CRISIS etc isn't helping matters.

The whole Northen Rock thing was a disgrace from a reporting point of view, leading to panic on the high streets.  It should and could have been dealt with a whole lot better.  People like Martyn Lewis think they're helping the average Joe when in fact they're not, they just help whip it all up into a frenzy.

Of course people should be worried to a certain extent, but they should also remain positive, as this will pass, downturns do.

Well I am looking for a new job now.

I am still working but I am far from confident with my current job. My boss doesn't help much either, I am sure that he has studied at the David Brent school of management.

Also, and unrelated to the economy, my wifes boss whom is also the owner of the company that she works for died of a heart attack the other day and so her job is looking decidedly shaky.

I'm a cheerful cunt innit!

Although I am clinging onto the hope that their is such a thing as Karma because if there is, and after the extended spell of bad luck that I have had then I have a whole shed-load of good luck coming to me at some point.

But fuck it, we won last night innit.

Just remember it is also a good climate for dealing with tough issues such as lay offs and streamlining by just blaming the credit crunch.

There was no credit crunch when Dyson production up sticks and left Malmesbury???

Just tough economic choices......and .....fuck the workers.

Alot of companies are using this as an excuse. Yes

A lot of companies have lost business and can't afford to keep staff on.
