what a kick in the teeth. Not from Ward obviously, just terrible luck if he starts his first game for them against us.

Looking back through the posts, obviously I was in dreamland that the board would spend that amount of money (still rekon he would return a big profit). But their efforts in signing strikers in January were miserly.

Not wishing him anything bad ... but two yellows tonight would prove he still has some feelings for us.

He hasn't played for a while, so he may be on the bench first.

It seems we were in for Ward but understandably he went to Huddersfield. At least the departure of Wilson didn't stop us tyring for him.

No...but the departure of Wilson was probably why he wasn't interested.

And the league table and location of Huddersfield.

Can't say I blame the lad, hopefully he has an off day on Saturday but knowing our luck he'll score a hatrick.

As a loan player, it'd be a damn sight easier to slot into a team that's settled, playing well and with confidence than to come into a team of shitty, disinterested, ragtag bunch of shambolic wasters who haven't won since 1826.

Although, he knows the area. He knows most of the people. He knows he is wanted. He knows that he was well treated by the fans.

This is one of those Roy of The Rovers moments when you want there to be some honour and loyalty in football. Where someone like Ward or Cox or even Paynter comes back to help a club dear to their heart get out of a gigantic mess. Putting club before career or financial gain - Doing the right thing..........Ok....I'll get my coat!
