You do know the idea is you make up your own right 4D?

Mine is to just carry on as I am. I might think about getting in some more exercise at some point though.

I'm trying to get back into reading- one of my friends did a 100 new films in a year challenge last year so I'm going to have a go at doing similarly with books- although 50 rather than 100 seems more reasonable.

I'm also resolving to glower at anyone else who tells me about their "Dryanuary" like it's a noble act.

I'm going to be more miserable. My kids say I achieve it every year.

I have more hair on my face than on my head. You'll be in the same boat.

My mrs says its looks silly, but Tim Howard pulls it off like a boss.

I'd love to grow a beard, but given that my facial hair is still insistent on falling out, I'll have to pass on that one for now.

My resolution is to write stuff down. I'm guilty of thinking "I'll remember that later" and then I don't. I've amassed a collection of freebie Moleskine notebooks in recent times which can be put to good use.

Mine is to finish learning a few things I started some time back. I have about 5 or 6 unfinished courses I started and enjoyed.

I'm also resolving to glower at anyone else who tells me about their "Dryanuary" like it's a noble act.

Isn't it "dryathlon"? (Although they're both fittingly irritating.)

I know I've had a few mates proclaim they're doing it. Christ, I think I only got drunk 3 or 4 times last year, a month without booze is pretty normal.

2 weeks into my beard growth, but it's starting to, wait, I'm starting to quite like it, bit gingery, but alright so far.

As for writing things down, my wife bought me a dictaphone a while ago and it's very handy when you're out and about and ideas or work thoughts race through your mind, never seem to have the time to write things down.

For the moment. I got into it, then sprained my ankle. Just haven't had the motivation since, may be partly to do with the weather and dark mornings. Probably just that I'm a lazy cunt though. Once I'm back in Swindon and the mornings aren't quite as depressing I'm 100%, definitely, absolutely, without any doubt going to think about starting again.

You're a week in front of me. Is it still itching like a bastard?

I discovered beard oil a few weeks ago, bloody brilliant stuff.

Barely had an itch since

Rubbing a bit of piss in your beard stops the itch completely

This is 100% true.

I too am growing a beard, but because I'm a lazy fucker as opposed to any other reason.

When I met Janaage a couple of times back in the fledgling TEF days he always struck me as a cool dude.

Now it's beards, verrucas and dictaphones. Is this what getting old is?

I am a female and I despise beards

Is there any reason other than laziness they are suddenly fashionable?

Ha ha, not sure I was ever a cool dude Dave!

For me it's not getting old, it's just having kids. Two unde 4's makes my brain suffer in the memory dept and makes lose the will to scrape my face with a razor blade every day so it's time for a beard, won't last long though.

Hertha, not much of an itch going on at all really, not as bad as when I had the tache for Movember.

And Ells don't worry, I hate facial hair on women too!

I must be ahead of the times, had a beard for a couple of years, been clean shaven for nearly a year now. Full beard in 10 days, not sure what people are moaning about with regards to itching - that only lasts a few days.

I can't answer for anyone else, but for for me the main reason is I just wondered what it would look like. Oh and the laziness obviously. Getting up in the morning and not scraping my face with a sharp bit of metal is a very liberating feeling.

I'm currently working the next DV beard. It's been a while since I went full on big beard. About time it made a come back.
Never had a problem with it being itchy either

TEF beard off!

As a veteran beard wearer, it's slightly annoying that they're now sported by utter bellends with top-knots. I can't wait for them to be unfashionable again.

If you like to be paid compliments by men, then growing a bit of beard is a good way to get these. Good tip for you there Ells ;)

I'm not knocking people's choices really. I just personally find them very unattractive and as LucienSanchez says, there's a high adoption rate amongst absolute bellends which can't help.

I can certainly empathise with laziness though.

Wasn't really a new year resolution but I think I gave up smoking around the 1st last year and have kept it up.

Going for losing all the weight I've put on as a result of not smoking any more this year. Got about 3 stone to lose.

I'm going to make an effort to be happier. Not in a hedonistic way, just identify the things I do and ways I live that don't add anything to my life and cut them out.

I'm going to put on weight and be fucking wasted for 12 months.

What's a frenulum Ron?

I really dislike old man's beard....not the similarly named autumnal display of sepals, on our native clematis...Traveller's Joy, which is a fine thing, but the dirty scraggly things that some old boys sport...terrible.

In homage to fB as Edward Lear put it...

There was an Old Man with a beard,
Who said, "It is just as I feared!—
Two Owls and a Hen, four Larks and a Wren,
Have all built their nests in my beard.

That's the perineum. A frenulum is any piece of tissue that restricts movement between two organs, ie the little bit that joins the bottom of your tongue to your lower mouth.

That would probably do more damage to a frenulum than a thin one, yes.
