Based on what I've seen so far, the standout sides (and this is biased by the last performance really) are Brazil and Portugal. France haven't been amazing, but in Mbappe, Giroud and Griezmann have a trio that when on form can really hurt their opponents. England have done very much what has been asked of them and for me getting to the 1/4 finals is par and the game on Saturday is fascinating. Will Southgate attempt to bore the French to death for 120 minutes and rely on some magic from Bellingham or Foden?
Croatia v Brazil - I think Brazil will have too much for a talented but aged Croatian side. Netherlands v Argentina - Clash of the Titans. I fancy the Argies to progress. Morocco v Portugal - I definitely wouldn't fall off my chair if the North Africans won, but I think Portugal will have too much and are red hot at the moment. England v France - Fuck it, England through on penalties. Saka to net the deciding one after Mbappe's hits the post.

we've been to Aberdeen, we hate the Hibs, they make us spew up, so make some noise, the gorgie boys, for Hearts in Europe.

Back to some footy today. Hopefully the Town game will be on tomorrow, then grub and pub for the England game straight after.

I guess one of the issues with a World Cup being scheduled as it is, there are a lot of festive parties etc and so I will miss tonight's game which should be an absolute belter (it will probably stink the place out now I have said that!)
However first up is Croatia v Brazil. The Samba kings smashed Son, Kim, Kim, Kim, Kim, Kim and co and an aging Croatia needed penalties to progress. On paper this should be a simple win for Brazil, and I suspect that's how it will go. 2-0 to Brazil is my prediction.
