The Specials was interesting. It was like a "This is England" convention. Nice to see a few red Fred Perry's in attendance and a few STFC 70s nutjobs there - all now very respectable people, I'm sure. I'm now probably going to be a bit of a heretic but when the Specials are good, they're very good - Monkey Man and Do Nothing but theres' a fair amount of "padding". A good evening and a good venue but there were lulls.
I have to say that this set was alot bigger than two years ago....i reckon another six songs at least.

If we're including comedy, I have Al Murray tomorrow night and music wise, Gary Barlow at the Royal Albert Hall in December!

Saw arctic monkeys in cardiff last week. heard a lot of people bad mouth them live, but i thought they were very good.
Stumbled upon a band called dog is dead on friday. Was quite wankered, but they sounded like innofensive indie pop, like they had recorded a load of mystery jets b-sides.
Going to see ben marwood on friday, and then try and catch local favourite gaz brookfield and dry the river next week. Good times

Summed up nicely. I saw them in Oxford a few weeks back and they were okay.

I did indeed. Home by 7.30. Only stayed that late so I could have my tea. I stopped by the academy as well to sort out getting some of the Motorhead crew into see Opeth. Lemmy of course went to a strip club instead.

Saw the Arctic Monkeys in Birmingham last Friday and was bloody impressed with them, much more so than when I saw them in Dusseldorf last year. I still dont understand why anyone would spend £4 on a pint of Stella and then chuck half of it into a crowd of people no matter how funny it is.

Saw 'My Morning Jacket' on Friday night. They put on a really good show. Support band 'The Head and the Heart' were decent also. (Kind of like a fleet foxes vibe)
Death Cab for Cutie were a little disappointing on Saturday night.
Elbow on Wednesday and then maybe Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks on Thursday if I can be arsed.
