Mr D posting on thisis

We think it was good business because, in the end, Rory decided that he felt his career would benefit from a move to Swansea, and In my opinion, the fee agreed is tremendous given that the player was out of contract at the end of this season. Yes, we have told he Iffy he can go and find a replacement, but that is not so easy as there are a lot of clubs currently looking for strikers, but we are going to give it a good go. I know some fans will be disappointed, but it is difficult to keep a player once he has decided to move on. Anyway we still believe we have a much stronger squad now since Iffy's signings during the window, and one player doesn't make a team, although you cannot get away from the importance of his goals. I can confirm that Barnsley had a sell on clause when Rory joined us, and we have agreed one with Swansea. We wish Rory all the best in the future, and now we have to move on.

shrewd.......................very shrewd !

nice to see that there will be money available for replacement and also the sell on clause with Swansea.

Also, an I paraphrase MD on BBC RS:

Some of money is available to be used on signing a replacement, or on a loan player where the wages are a litlle higher than normal. But I'd by lying if I said a lot of it won't go on running the business

So no suprise really

i think it's good business really.

i think he wanted to go at the end of the season whether we stay up or not so selling him now for £300k (taking Swans first bid) is very good.
Especially as we only paid £50k??? for him. + 25% sell on to barnsley we shall make over £200k in profit from him.

Everyone questioned where the goals would come from once SSP left and Fallon delivered.

Now he has left hopefully we can play the ball to Curo's feet and he will bang a few in. Peacock will add a few aswell.

I wish him all the best and thanks for what he has done for us so far this season.

Don't want to show our hand by saying too much. We'll leave it to Iffy to identify some targets and we will then do our best to support him. We are already chasing one player, but would prefer not to say much more in case we alert other clubs. We'll let you know as soon as we can.

Mark,

Have the board thought about ticket prices for next season? *IF* (I really hope we dont) we get relegated you cant possibly expect people to pay £20+ for Division 3 football!!

Sam Parkin?   Cool

I think selling Fallon was the correct move - I'd prefer this than to lose him on a free which would have inevitably happened.  It also gives us a chance to strengthen other areas of the team if Iffy's sees fit...

Good question DV

I notice there was no reply on ticket prices for next year .. but then what would you expect the cost to be if we went down??

£15 for stands and £10 for Town end seems fair to me tho

Well I buy a season ticket to currently it works out about £16 a match for me...

However  alot of people think are ticket prices are too much, alot of away fans choose this match as one not to go to.

I understand that the prices are based  on average attendences and break even figures etc they arent just randomly picked.

I think they are too expensive, but alot of teams are nearly as expensive I mean Southend tonight is £18.50 for an adult ticket.

Division 3 would be a lower quality of football in a lower league, so I'd hope the prices would go down with the quality of football and league position.

People who has nothing to do on a Saturday arent going to think 'I know I'll go pay £23 to watch 3rd division football' when Supermarine who arent that far below us!! I expect charge about £5 (I dont know this for sure)
