but....really it shouldnt be the defenders job to distribute it. Ideally the midfield drop back and take the ball off the defenders. How often do you see the likes of Campbell, Terry, Ferdinand etc hoofing it forward, they just roll it forward to Gilberto, Makelelelelele, Fletcher etc

And surely the defenders should be able to play the ball out rather than punt it up field. But again that leads onto your point of the midfielders needin to drop back.

he's fucking gash! i've defended the bloke in the past but today just took the piss, he made a couple of good tackles and at least one of those was after he missed a header and let a player get past him.
as for his distribution, why can't he just pass the ball short? he doesn't have to hoof it and it's not as if he NEVER has options.

His job as a defender is to stop players getting past, which he did well yesterday. If he could do that and distribute it well, he wouldn't be playing for town. Why do you chodes compare his to England players, we're in League One for fuck's sake!

Say what you like about Ifil he made two goal-saving tackles that no-one else would have the bollocks to dive in for.

Ifil is the worst defender we've ever had. He only makes saving tackles from his own errors. Terrible distribution, no vision , weak as piss. Andy King has a lot to answer for.

exactly.
he fucking terrifies me when he makes those mindless lunging tackles, because he usually either gives away a free kick or misses the ball and player entirely. yes, sometimes he does make some good tackles but they're generally only because he's fucked up in the first place.
he was dire yesterday, absolutely terrible. i wouldn't even put him in the reserves.

I agree Dave I'm on Ifil side here, he defended well and made some good tackles, his distribtion is awful, but it shouldnt be his job, saying O'Hanlons distribtion is just as fucking poor, and he is a very poor captain. Yet everyone choose to pick on Ifil the new scape goat..... O'Hanlon was worse yesterday.
