Good to see the Prof. getting some recognition.

He would get the crowd in the game, especially if we were level or behind with a few minutes to go.  I seem to remember, he got a few goals with headers from corners.  He always put in a huge effort every game.

The Prof was in my wilderness years when I lived elsewhere, but I do recall his headed goal on MotD v Shrewsbury...in what must have been the shortest ever clip of a covered game, when the only highlight  was him heading in in the 92nd minute.  THey may also have shown the kick off.

"In his first full appearance in a red shirt, Town were 5-0 down at Palace by half-time!"

I should have mentioned I was at that game, but I thought it was Ron Potter who made his debut on that occasion.   I think the game ended 6:2.

Reg, did we lose 6:2 and was Potter or the Prof. making his debut.

Certainly wasn't Ron, who'd been with the club at least 3 or 4 years by then.

I had no idea, but looked it up and it was the Prof who made his full debut in this match, came on as a sub in the home match against Tranmere 4 days before. See the link below.

Then click on season 74-75 and it gives his appearances on there.
