Maybe look at the commercial side of teh business, the meeting rooms, the advertising, match day packages etc etc.  Ring the club they will send you literature on it im sure.

Services could be stuff like vip days ie like they do for mothers day etc. and also things like stadium tours for special occasions.

Match sponsorship could also be another.  You could also mention about football in the community - getting youngsters involved.

Even the partnership providing the coach for away travel can be classed as a service.

Perhaps explore avenues such as VIP days, sponsership of players, mascots etc. All available to the public.

Primarily the clubs product is entertainemnt like a theatre or cinema, only less predictable.  The services in my eyes are few, the club is trying to boost its range of serivces with gorund development, but to many people the service the club fulfills is for a couple of hours a week, it has the unique emotional attachment which other leisure industires would love to have.

I don't know much about marketing as you can tell, but the facets of a football club are intangible, it's very hard to market the sense of satisfaction we all got on friday.

Also, the main product of the club is the football team, the team should be marketed to bring in more fans to generate more money for the club, the service the club provide is a seat at the match....you never know if you wight something decent STFC may use it as they can't wight one themselves!

For my Business Studies A level I did a project on the Marketing Mix and Swindon Town Football Club

The club were very helpful .. Mr Hillier and Mr King looked after me and answered all the questions I asked ...

Some 6 months later they had a lot more questions that needed asking by the Inland Revenue

When I asked Mr Hillier what was the main objective of STFC .. he said to get into the top division and stay there !! TOP MAN

What i didnt realise is how far he was willing to go ... but we were still very harshly treated ... I still cant get over what happened :|

The ground development point is good.  You could say how they hope to develop it and what further products and services they could offer in the future ie. music concerts, better training facilities etc.

the marketing mix is:

Product - i.e. what they sell
Price - how they compare to other clubs and a justification for any differences
Place - swindon. but talk about how football is different from any other industry in that supporters will travel miles to see their club and how the club prey on this.
Promotion - advertising

it may be worth your time getting in contact with the club to have a chat, explain what you're doing and that you're a keen supporter of the club and i'm sure they'll be willing to help.

mike sullivan and sarah mildenhall are the commercial/marketing people at the club and both of them are very approachable, you may be able to wrangle some free stuff for your work.
