Our regional quango, the South West Regional Assembly, has included the redevelopment of the County Ground (along with the Oasis) in the first draft of the Regional Spatial Strategy. This is the new development "masterplan" for the SW and goes out to 2026. So it's official, then:

The development strategy for Swindon will require additional investment in social and community infrastructure including:

It's interesting to read the Madjeski had no direct financial input to his stadium!

This is a short spat started by some local councillors and local MP who seem to want to gain a bit of politcal weight by showing their concern for the local residents.  The end result is the club thought the financial plans were open to all in the Council and the committee dealing with it did not.  Local Councillors using the press to get themselves known - club forced to reply with a few details.
