I am currently listening to Oasis - Definately Maybe and have recently listened to Mansun - Six.
Got me thinking, was the music in the 90's better or worse than the music of today? Personally I think the raw energy of Definately Maybe is still one of the best albums I own.

90's was far better but maybe nostalgia makes me think that?
When Definately Maybe came out i was at secondary school without a care in the world and getting drunk and snogging girls.
If only things were the same now.

I think I prefer my Indie/guitar music from the 90s with the odd exception but the dance music has progressed and expanded with time as the genre has split and developed into different things, meaning many of my favourite dance music or similar is recent too. Popular music in the 90s was ace though, before the advent of RnB etc.

Late 90's dance was the best ever IMO.
Stuff like Cafe Del Mar by Energy 52 and Binary Finary 1999 I used to like dance music in the 90's as well. Gouryella, Meet her at the love parade, Insomnia (Think this was 90's) all class. |

Indeed, but the 90s also saw the development of groups as well as the producers of the odd song, people like orbital, faithless, chemical brothers and prodigy brought qulaity to the masses, enabling slightly less well known groups to go different things with dance and house music as the decade progressed. i think 99-01 was the peak for club music like gouryella and cafe del mar, so much quality about.

Personally I prefered the early 90's stuff. Prodigy in particular and such tunes as Tony Di Bart- The real thing, Bit of Ratpack. late 90's stuff was too comercialised.

Well liam gallacher chose it apparently...... |
