how do water boatmen get into different ponds??

same for those little pond skater things....been bugging me for agees  :?

 They don't.....once upon a time the world was nothing but a huge pond, where all the water boatmen lived....slowly it became what it is today, and the boatmen just breed in their own pond.....bit like O*frod fans.
