Said before we offered Danny Johnson 3k a week and he signed for Walsall instead who offered him more…

Mad wages for L2.

Then it comes down are you better off getting 3/4 decent players and backfilling the squad or having no decent players but a full squad of good players
Depends on whether you can improve the 'good' players or get synergy through playing them effectively. I think our last 2 managers have struggled to get synergy from some very average players plus the odd gem.

I think this manager was employed because he has been successful in the past with a small budget. Maybe he will do better than his predecessors in getting the best out of the remaining squad.

More problems at Crawley apparently.

Yeah I saw that this morning - this doesn't sound good for them at all. Nadesan was their player of the season as well last season. I saw another rumour suggesting they are trying to offload Dom Telford as well. Without him, I reckon they are toast.

They have been trying to offload Telford since the last window when he was offered to Orient who couldnt afford his wages.

Did he score quite a few for Newport under Flynn? Whether we could afford his wages or think he's worth it is another matter.

Yes Flynn was his manager at Newport when he had the purple patch. I doubt we could get near his "alleged" £5k per week but if we offered Crawley a portion then the wage bill would be lowered.

Orient are keeping an eye on the situation again so could be holding the trump cards in L1 and with a bigger budget than us (obviously).

Telford does have a good touch on him but would probably be too similar to Wakeling/RHM (if a lot more experienced). He plays off a big targetman usually, in a number 10 role or as a 2nd striker.

Not sure a 5'7" striker will be suitable to calm the perpetually peeved?

I'd be surprised if the majority aren't happy with a signing of someone of that quality.

We could stuff extra socks down his boots to add an inch or two?

If that was true we’d all be stuffing socks down our Y-fronts!

Assuming that we won't be a potential relagation rival to Crawley then I wouldn't mind seeing Lindsey rise to the challenge of keeping them in the league.

Would much rather see one or two of the big spenders for this season fall flat on their faces.
It does happen.

Anyway, given the rate of our recruitment so far a "Where are we going to finish" poll thread isn't likely to appear until towards the end of the window with 2 or 3 games in the bag.
It's pretty pointless to see speculate on that at this stage other than a snapshot view of things.

I think they could be dark horses this season - certainly look to be building a fairly solid defence.
