Understand the others but what's so bad about "can I get"?
It implies you're asking to be allowed to go and fetch the item yourself, rather than have the person you are asking do so (which is what you actually asking). e.g. "Can I have a coffee?" = "Would you please get me a coffee?" vs "Can I get a coffee?" = "Is it OK if I leap over the counter and get my own coffee?" Not that it matters much, so long as both parties are clear as to the meaning. It's really just a shift in usage. But it's mildly irritating

As in "can I get a Reeeeeee-winddd".
Surely it is a matter of etiquette rather than grammar? If you're referring to "may I have" as being the appropriator, being rather anal I would actually say the more proper would be "I/one would like" and if answering for others "<<ins. person>> would like".
Yet none of the above are really that bad, unless you have a position within the Monarchy to uphold. The ones that trump them all, would be "I want" or the even more demanding "give me", although I've never really heard either of them used in a restaurant ordering context. If so, most people whether practising RP or just a regular human, nearly always end their sentence in this scenario with "please."
My problem with the use of "can I get" is that I am mildly irritated by the increasing use of American english.

That's fair comment. I should spend more time carefully crafting and constructing my posts.
The trouble is, you fucking have to do so on here

Always thought it was "Anyhoo" but isn't that more a Scots/Irish originator? But I feel ya brother I quite like "since" as a more common Americanism, yet that too is closely linked to older English. We tend to use the longer "seeing as"; e;g "Would you like to go to the mall? Since you have nothing else to do?!" to "You wanna go down shops? Seein as you are doin fuk all?" The only bit I'd change is "mall". That fucks me off. Precinct kinda irks me that way too. Just call it the fucking shops, a shopping centre or just "town".

In fairness they’re no worse than how a few on here have been after Yates and Keshi went to them.

It's more the fact they've made a separate thread to say "Grant: It's not happening". They already have an Anthony Grant thread. On here we would have covered a brief history of time, Town's title not won on merit, my off topic rants, maybe something about Doyle, a shit joke and maybe the finer detail of whether a contract announced was 2 years, already two years with one to go, or two years ending in two days. All in the same fred. These tangerines fans might be organised as fuck but they aren't very efficient. Do better

"increasingly more" and "equally as" get my goat.
Are those examples of tautology? It reminds me of someone having a half-pint in the south-west of England which would "help kick-start" the hospitality sector of the economy.
