Hello guys n gals

This has probably been discussed before and tbh I haven’t bothered to trawl through past topics to find answers.  Head Hurts

That in mind - just listened to Power’s interview pre Morecambe re club’s actual finances. He stated quite openly when talking about the sad affairs at Bury that Swindon are also losing a significant amount of money each season. It seems that there aren’t very many clubs that actually turn a profit which is very worrying. Call me naive or whatever, but in light of Town’s recent history on the pitch these last few years, I had quietly reassured myself that “at least we’re not losing money”. Seems I was very mistaken. I mean all we’ve heard power talk about in the past is sustainability but it seems that is far from the case. What do you make of this? For all the good that is currently going on at the club I can’t help but think that it could all collapse very quickly - also listening to Power’s comments it could almost seem like he already has one foot out the door...

Thoughts?

I've been waiting for a thread like this to come into my life. It feels like the first time someone has had a reaction to action. The damage is done, but all I know is he flame still burns and I will fight for you.

I have waited for so long. This is urgent.

Baby don't hurt me, don't hurt me, no more.

It was all going well and then somebody had to bring Haddaway into it!

Not particularly interesting fact but he shares a first name with an infamous former town player (no googling)

TBF to the original poster it should be something that fans of every lower league club are shitting themselves about and something the FA/FL need to address

The fact is that 90%+ of all football clubs in the bottom 2 divisions never run an operating profit and rely upon player sales to fill any voids from low crowds or poor sponsorship deals etc.

We have few saleable assetts, again like 90%+ of all bottom 2 division league clubs so we rely upon cash injections from owners/sponsorship deals, selling rights etc.

A few take short term loans to get them out of this division and go for broke with promotion, some it works for like Bournemouth most it fails for like Bury.

I read this week that MKD are losing £3m a year, thats been for the last 3 seasons and that is considered an acceptible loss by Winklebum.

Power has always had an exit strategy, and its when he wont put any more into the club or he can sell it for what he considers its full value.

The club is not worth much at the moment so he won't sell unless there is a good fee from any buyer, which is massively unlikely, certainly not whle we are in this division. Power will own the training ground and lease it back to the club so will not lose money that way, eventually, but until thats all in place Power won't leave no matter what, until everything is in black and white and he has his investment covered.

And yes this has all been covered many many times in the past, the most recent in this thread about Morfunis investment.

Beginnings of Powers exit strategy.
