Obviously the GK did poorly but it's highlighted even more as a standalone position. I actually think a player ghosting around 5 players is even more piss poor than an individual error. I'll no doubt be in the minority. Except the picture is bigger than just RC-C being in his first full season for us. Confidence i defence works boths. Which starts from the attacking positions. Like the "Kings Wine story" if an attacker gives away a pass but just thinks, it's ok, the midfield will deal with it. The midfielder gives away a pass, it's ok the defence will deal with it. You get my point and it's compounded pressure. Sure RC-C is struggling but it is a team game.
Still, another half to go.
Oh I agree the defence stood like statues as their number 24 waltzed around them and should have done a lot better but the failure to claim the cross and merely push it onto the striker gifted them the goal.
That sort of keeping has been our problem all season with Vigs and RCC doing that, neithe rlike claiming catches they both try to push shots out or punch balls away rather than actually claiming catches or shots as all good goalkeepers do.
Its very continental, all european keepers do it and its creeping more into the English game and its crap, you would never see Shilton, Clemence, Banks, Downsborough or Digby do that.
Under Macari we had a keeper called Kenny Allen who was not a great shot stopper but he was massive and could catch the ball all day long as all teams against us used to hoof the ball into the box.
Horses for courses and all that, we need a keeper that can catch a ball and that the defence know if a ball comes into our box from cross or corner he will come out and catch it 99% of the time, all keepers have an element of shot stopper in them we need a ball catcher!
