Right, interested to see if you technological types can crack this.

My inlaws bought this Hisense Smart TV, but the 'smart' aspect doesn't work because it's not connected to the internet. I can search for and find the SSID and get as far as bringing up a screen to enter the WPA key but the remote doesn't have any letters on it, there is no on-screen keyboard and thus no way of actually inputting the WPA key.

I mean, what the fuck? Any ideas? Could I change the WPA key to all numbers? Or buy a different remote?

I dont know for sure but arent the remotes with just numbers similar to the old Nokia mobiles in the you press the 2 key to cycle through 2 a b c and the 3 key for 3 d e and f?

Doesn't seem that way - if I press the same key twice, two * come up, thus not allowing me to cycle through.

Might be worth seeing if you can find the manual for your model here:

Definitely this. Make sure the box to input is highlighted then press OK and it should put an on screen keyboard up

Tried this, unfortunately the TV just takes this to mean you're done and gives an error message because the key doesn't match! Will try a USB keyboard I think...

My guess is that the tv is faulty. This brand is very much up and coming and gets good reviews considering the price but I've not seen anything like this about them until reading this thread. Hence why I think it may be faulty.
