I'm thinking of organising an historic pub crawl of London for a small group.  Based on my internet research I can sort something out, but thought it pertinent to ask if anyone on here has any suggestions (to go to or avoid) based on experience.

Cheers in advance.

There's the Blind Beggar in Whitechapel where the Krays used to frequent, some guy got murdered in it - that's quite historic ?

Also (apparently) the place where there was a speech that led to the creation of the Salvation Army...somewhat differing claims to fame. Smiley

Edit: That's just the sort of thing, thanks chap.

Prospect of Whitby in Wapping is brilliant, all full of pirate and shipping memorabilia, but I think it's real stuff not just themed.
Overlooks the Thames
Would have recommended it first but couldn't remember the name, so had to look it up !

Should be top of your list

You could try the Rochester Castle in Stoke Newington, which is apparently the oldest Wetherspoons still open.

Wetherspoons tend to be based in old buildings, so if you wanted historical architecture or something like that you could easily go to 'spoons.

Some of 'em are shit holes obviously though.

Ye Olde Watling, Watling Street.

Historical pub on a cobbled street looking up at St Pauls Cathedral.

Princess Louise in Holborn and Jerusalem Tavern in Farringdon. The Mayflower in Rotherhithe is visible across the river from the Prospect of Whitby.
