Sony Xperia Z query

My phone has started to not give me notification for a new text message etc. When it worked it would play a tune and a small light would flash every 10 seconds. Now it doesn't do anything, I have to go to my messages icon to see if anything has arrived. I checked my settings for messages and all the notification boxes are ticked. I also checked my WhatsApp after a recent update, all ok. Can anyone help?

Not taking the piss, my Z needs it now and again as stuff just packs up

Gave that a go, TT. My emails show up with notification but my text messages still don't

Is there a blocking mode on your phone and have you accidentally turned it on?

Are you using the default messaging app? What does Whatsapp have to do with it?

Otherwise make sure the ringtone in the message settings has ringtone set to something and not 'None'.
