Hi there Swindon fans Smiley (This post may need moving, I just thought it might get more attention here for the time being.)

Any chance I can get some extra signatures for my club to acquire a new stadium? Only takes a few minutes, we would really appreciate your help.

We have been trying for the last 20 years, but setbacks due to location, nimby's, and funding have set us back.

This is an official petition made by Grimsby Town Football Club over the last few months, which will be handed into our local council for planning permission.

Circa 500 permanent jobs, and 500 temporary construction jobs. For the long term survivability of the club, not only will it help the club, it will help with community projects in Education and Health.

Thank you.

Whenever I see the words Grimsby Town, I instantly think of Clive Mendonca.

Just though I'd share that with you.

Daughters BF is from Grimsby so have had to listen to him wailing about a new stadium ( or lack of it ) esp as your current one isnt even in Grimsby but Cleethorpes
Barely above sea level too

I take it the hope is a new stadium will help you escape non league ?
Signed and good luck in your endeavour.

I recall without much fondness being Mendoncad sometime in the late 20th Century in a 3-3 draw...all a bit fin de siecle strange times hazy memory.

Wish we had a striker like Mendonca now, although in this non-league we have had 2 x 30 goal scorers, you bought one off us   No

I can't remember where I saw the post, but Melinda Messenger has relatives in Grimsby, not sure if it was football related, think the family are Swindon/Grimsby fans through marriage.

Hehe Blundell Park was very close to flooding last December, came over the sea defences, I live practically 5 minutes from the Docks, and they lock gates were opened which saved the dock from totally flooding.  Millions of pounds of sea defence upgrades are currently being worked on, one of my friends has been doing welding work all along the coast - ££££££

We had Alan Connell, but I think you had Lee Peacock who became your captain. Signed.
Peacock's on Twitter, I think, and could drum up a few more town (and football) fans.

very happy to have signed your petition - even if the proverbial deepest midwinter, midweek away game in that new stadium wouldn't look quite so intimidating anymore Wink

Signed!  I work with a couple of Grimsby fans, they're pretty fanatical about the new stadium, Could do with a car park this time though.  Good luck to them!
