I thought we were looking to play a 3-5-2?

If Brad Smith comes in in the next day or so, personally I'd start him on the left. Byrne is right footed and I think is a better option on the bench.

Have to go with Byrne ahead of Thommo at RWB - far better going forward, with Thommo at CB instead of Lelan (purely because I know nothing about him, and need to get Thompson in there somehow).

Tempted to put Gladwin ahead of Louis for attacking threat.....

I agree with most of this. Nathan doesn't offer the attacking quality we need in this new formation, and i wouldn't even play him CB. As captain i know he's going to play but not convinced he fits the way we are playing. I too would get Gladwin in the team, either to replace Williams and have him play just off Smith or instead of either Kasim/Thompson.

I think it's probably too soon to start Smith as he hasn't had long enough to train with the team and pick up the way we want to play - on the bench to ease him in.

Ok with Nat Thompson as an experiment at CB - he did well there against ball-playing teams eg Saints, but not sure how he'll handle big rough centre forwards and the long ball - however having a back three does allow for one smaller tough tackling CB with a bit more pace than most. See how he gets on there, unless of course we get Stephens in !

Looking forward to tomorrow  Smiley, but like most, don't really know what to expect !!

For me it has to be -

GK. Foderingham
WBL - Smith
CB - Turnbull
CB - Lelan
CB - Branco
WBR - N. Thompson
MF - Luongo
MF - Kasim
MF - L.Thompson
ST - Williams
ST - Smith

I feel that Brad Smith will get his debut at the expense of Byrne. Byrne is one of our more creative players but I dont think Cooper will start with him at wingback, Not convinced that Nathan is good enough at CB but may grow into the role if needed over the next few weeks.

The fact that we're discussing options of which senior (well, relatively senior) players might start tomorrow is a welcome change, shows we have at least a little depth in the squad now to play with, at least until we start getting injuries, suspensions etc.
