http://www.swindon-town-fc.co.uk/images/Media/Video1993_01.wmvi didn't know where to put this! but apprantley...this is the song for the season we got promoted to the premiership in 1993. just watching it makes me think will i ever see a successful swindon team? cause for 10 years i have watched mostly crap grace the county ground, and it does sadden me hearing all your tales from these times, cause i know, that swindon will probably never make the premiership again. Right click the link and do "Save target as" to download the video... Quality, never seen that video but remember the song oh so well, although I was embarassed of it at the time!!

It brought a smile to my face today though instead of a cringe.

The only thing that song is good for is reminiscing about the good times.

Very true, and they were good times. Wasn't it written to highlight the injustice of the demotion after we beat Sunderland in 90? I remember smashing my radio and crying when they announced the news we'ed been demoted to div 3 - I was out playing footie with my mates who all used to go to the games and we had a portable radio waiting for the result of the hearing - it got smashed to pieces.
I was much happier after the 2nd visit to Wembley in 93, but remember shitting my pants (not literally!) when Leicester scored those 3 quick fire goals, but good old chalky came off the bench at won us that pen. I met him about 5 years ago at my mates wedding (my mate used to play for Bath City) and it was when Bodin and White were both there, I was so pissed I got down on my knees at the reception and hailed chalky as my hero and said I wasn't worthy enough to even speak to him! He was a nice bloke though and told me to get up and bought me a beer.

Johno, cheers for that fella, that song brings back so many memories, especially the shot of the ground at the start. Almost brought a tear to my eye!!
Like I've said before the feelings I experienced during those seasons is probably the reason why I still go. Like a high from a drug I suppose.
Defo "Post of the Month" for me - gold star to Johno!

Here's my 2005 version of the song - it kept me busy for a minute or two
So here we are, many years from Eric and John Moncur, From the Premier to' third we made it And when Razor wanted his money we paid it And now Super Sam has gone Oh how Stuart Mac cried, losing 7-0 at Bolton - no place to hide Now Swindon Borough Council - they deny us and next year you will find us Playing in Chippenham League 1 we belong We've been here for so long Now most of our fans have gone League 1 we belong This division ain't that strong We'll be bankrupt before too long
**queue the guitar solo**
