Rain Dogs and Frank's Wild years. I also like The Heart of Saturday Night, and, unlike some people that really love Tom Waits, Swordfish Trombones.
If you're looking for just one bit of TW to add to the Ipod though you can't go far wrong with the compilation Asylum Years or possibly the live album Nighthawks at the Diner,

I like Swordfishtrombones, some excellent tracks - it just doesn't really work as a whole album for some reason.
Honestly, the only albums I wouldn't bother with are Foreign Affairs and the Black Rider. Anything else is a good choice.

Ta for the suggestions. I already have Swordfish Trombones and Closing Time, so will check out some of the others recommended here.

"Orphans" is the best value on Amazon in my opinion.Others Id recommend,"Alice" and "Heartattack and Vine" for one of his earlier ones.

My wife said some of the tracks sound like Les Dawson.
I will concede that my musical taste is not as eclectic as a lot on people of here and I am so out of touch with modern artists that my record collection stopped with Snow Patrol.
Hence why I thought I'd try something new. What should I have started with?
