As Batch has posted could be worth running Malwarebytes just in case you have something lurking on your PC.
Also don't know if it helps but If you use Firefox as a browser and have the adblock plus addon it stops you getting any ads coming up.

If you use Chrome get the Ghostery extension, it automatically blocks advertising and analytic requests. A useful addition to  Adblock and a clean-out via Malwarebytes.

I always run malwarebytes in safemode.

Keep pressing F8 when you start up your PC.

Ghostery is also a good tool to use if you're interested in working out who's tracking you on certain websites.

Spybot Search+Destroy has always served me well, adblock is a must for your web browser.

See above post Cheesy I would say that 99% of virusses/trojan/popups either come from searching for and downloading porn or downloading illegal films/games from dodgy torrent sites or fake link sites etc.

 Smiley
I had a quick look at manic miner for the first time in about 30 years, I always thought the graphics were better than the version I recently tried.  Huh?
